No - but $33 is pretty specific. It's possible that it's totally random, but it's also possible it relates to something personal between you two - obviously not a day of the month, but maybe a player number, or some in-joke you used to share, or something along those lines. Your age, maybe?
You could always try calling them up sometime and saying "You know, we've been wracking our brains trying to figure out if 33 is important!"
Don't be offended if it's simply all the money they had; not everyone can give a nice gift, especially if they're young or retired.

Somebody wrote you a check for exactly $33.00, that's odd.
If somebody put $33.00 in cash in a card I would think that they just stuffed it with whatever they had around instead of writing a check or visiting the ATM. Maybe a last minute thing.

No I don't.... my great-grandmother would always give me $3 for my Birthday. No matter how old I was, that's how much she gave me. I thought it was sweet of her to give me anything at all. Wanna know what we've gotten as an engagement gift? Nothing, so take the $33 and put it towards whatever savings you have that will go to something you really want. It's the thought that counts!

The price doesn't matter. It's the thought and the feeling.
If its to you: do you love him for him or for his money?
If its from you: he should appreciate it either way.
Anyhow, you two should love eachother no matter what if you two are being engaged. If the price of an engagement gift is a big thing, you two will end of being divorced. Any questions just mail me.

Depending on who gave the gift, it could be numerology based.
I'm surprised at all the people saying it is being cheap. Are people now supposed to be giving engagement gifts AND shower gifts AND wedding gifts?

No, never heard of this. Usually, gifts aren't given at an engagement, but just the shower and wedding.

33.....3+3.....as in the number 6. and six three times is 666....and some ppl think that's a bad number...so maybe its their gift of a bad omen? who knows. but yes, cheap. I would disassociate your selfs with who gave that. Why not $333? that's be nicer. or a free house....yea right

it started as 35, but they needed a soda because they had drymouth on the way to see you, so thus you ended up with 33, because it'd just be rude to put 33 and some change in the envelope....
Im sure it has significance because its an odd number.
