i would like to purchase tickets at the amtrack station but when i look online it says 1 reserved coach seat all other options sold out on all of the times. what does that mean?

all seats sold out except 1 coach seat, (Like a seat on a bus)

Exactly that - you can ride reserved coach, but all other options are sold out (first class accommodations).

You can always ask the Conductor while on board if there is a room available and the Conductor can chose to sell it to you at a discounted rate.

it means when you buy ticket you are reserving a seat for yourself on that train
there are some trains where you dont need a reservation
(like the Pacific surfliners trains in California (expect around
Thanksgiving time) when all trains become reserve trains)

I think it means that your upgrade options are limited to no upgrade options becuase they are sold out or unavailable on that train.
