It is easier for your body to digest food while you are sitting or standing, but exercising right after you eat isn't good either

Actually, it is not. Only in the USA is that practice frowned upon. In Mexico and further south, workers take lunch and their culture permits about two or three hours of "siesta." That's a nap.

In Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden, et al.), some workers also take naps immediately after lunch. In the Wall Street Journal several years ago, I read that even Jim Lehrer of McNeill-Lehrer News Hour likes to stretch out under his desk and take a nap shortly after lunch.

I even pulled over and napped shortly after I left a breakfast buffet in Las Vegas on my way home. The need to get a little shuteye was upon me, and just turning in and reclining the seat back for a 20 minute snooze in anticipation of a long drive home made me more alert and awake.

Many health newsletters are pointing to getting adequate sleep as an excellent source of weight loss these days.

Most restaurants frown on that because you are blocking the aisles that the waiters need to pass between tables.

If you do that at home it is completely harmless. I have never heard any proof that it changes the rate of digestion. In fact in classes I took that covered the subject that would have gotten you flunked for saying something like that.

The digestion process is easier if you walk around or take a walk after eating. Lying down just slows the digestion and one often gets indigestion from this.

depends. in the past, people eat in a reclined posture. then i guess someone invented the dinner table and chairs to go with it and then everyone says, dont slouch, sit up and eat your peas!

if you lie on your stomach after eating, of course it's bad. you are flattening your stomach and probably forcing acid up your esophagus.

but if you lie on your back, it should be fine.

Food needs to be well digested. Lying down is not good for digestion. Moving around or walking around a little is good to aid digestion.

When you eat your stomach produces a lot of acid to digest the food. If you lie flat the acid in your stomach can back wash into your esophagus and cause heartburn (acid reflux). If you're not prone to acid reflux, you're okay.
