Humans are beings of mass hypocrisy it's the ones who choose to face it and correct it that are wise.

I think that double standards can exist anywhere, not just in religion and spirituality.

And I don't recall seeing much "do as I say but not as I do" attitude on R&S. Although there probably is a little bit of that going on in R&S. Mainly what I notice falls into one of three catergories.
1- Bashing of beliefs (from Atheists and Christians). Name-calling (such as: Cult. Why is that such a popular term to throw around anyway? lol)
2- Outright lies and accusations of what others believe.
3- People who are loving and kind. Always wanting to remind others to be respectful (taking the form of questions and statements). I love it when people have manners, by the way! I wish there were more of these people on R&S.

Religion is a group concept.

Spirituality is an individual concept.

Mixing the two leads to the double standard.

No I don't think there are double standards. What you must realize is that we are humans and humans make mistakes. We all have areas where we are weak, we also have areas where we are strong. But regardless we must learn to depend on God.

Not so sure about that particular issue, but I notice a lot of "if I cant answer your question about religion then it must be something God doesn't want you to know."

Hmm... then why did he give me the brains to come up with the question???

Perhaps - it depends on who is doing the talking. There are some very genuine people there. Personally, I think it is not a place for the timid at heart, lol! Good luck!

I wondered that for awhile, but once I accepted it as the nature of this particular beast I realized that there is a lot to be gained here. This can be a good place to cut your teeth, so to speak

You mean this forum in particular, and not necesssarily "religion and spirituality" in general? I don't think there are ANY standards here!

Religion and spirituality are polar opposites and they should not be lumped together the way that they are.
