like those "myspace pictures" that are really shiny and are really brilliant colors. sometimes the face even gets whited out.
how would you do that?

They probably use PhotoShop to edit the pics.

Please people! Why do you all insist on recommending Photoshop all the time? I imagine that you are all either quite well off and don't consider spending over $600 for a photo program to a sizable sum of money or you have bootlegged copies of Photoshop.
In either case, recommending Photoshop is overkill when there are several other programs that can accomplish the same result for far less money. Microsoft's PictureIt and Ulead's PhotoImpact can give pictures a super glossy effect and these programs cost less than $100.
If someone asked you how to cross the street. Would you recommend building a bridge or calling in an airlift? When people ask questions on this forum, the answers should be practical.
Am I wrong?

Well, sorry to burst the guy's bubble who said anybody who has photoshop is well off but, I'm not well off and I have a legit Photoshop program that was bought for me for christmas and the fact that I was going into graphics for school...
The way they make those pictures look like they do is they (use whatever program they have) lighten the highlights, raise the midtone contrast, adjust the overall contrast...plus they might saturate the color more.
