What camera do you use?

The BY-180B looks like a monolight for me - and based from my experience with monolight, they are too bright if you open your aperture wide - especially if you shoot small object at a close distance. This is because monolights are designed so you can shoot things with small aperture - thus increasing depth of field and sharpness.

My advice... learn photography even further - having fancy equipment and all doesn't make your shoot automatically good. And most especially learn how to shoot with a monolight. It would be pretty helpful in the future.

Try bouncing the light off the ceiling to "soften" it... Or using soft boxes or reflectors.. You may have to experiment using different techniques/backgrounds and find what works for you..
