A year or two ago I was hunting and I got nothing so I came home and later into a big Emo/hippie town and I was close to chased out for my camo and seeing my ornge vest in the car.

An old buddy told me this story: He and three other hunters had decided to go hunting but found out that anti-hunting activists were following hunters around in the woods making so much noise the deer were scared off. They went anyway, setting up a camp right next to the Antis. The following morning one of the group made a public display of loading up clips for his rifle, sharpening his knife, and announcing that he was going to get his deer. The other three said they were just going to leave. The hunter went one way, followed by a group of Antis, and the other three drove off, not being followed. What they did was, using cell phones and walki-talkies, have the lone hunter and Antis walk down a narrow valley while the other set up stands at the other end. The Antis actually drove the deer to the other three hunters, all of whom filled their tags. When the lone hunter finally joined the other three, they all thanked the Antis for their assistance in successful hunt.

I was yelled at once at a gas station for being" a bambi murderer" I quietly commented that it was ok because if I wasn't shooting them, nice people like you are hitting them with your car. They left in a huff.

I was only harassed in the woods once. I simply pointed out that considering how far we were from any houses, it would be a shame if something happened an they couldn't find the person to help them. They decided to go somewhere else.

my son was the funniest though. He was five and some protesters were outside a hunting show playing up to the cameras from the news. when they saw me going in with my son, one yelled " See, they even teach their kids to be murderers!" My son plants his hands on his hips and yells back, " My daddy is not a murderer, he only shoots deer!"
kind of hard to look good arguing with a 5 year old boy.

No, but I was attacked by an animal "rights" activist in front of Wendy's one day. A few coworkers and I were on our lunch break and I was struck in the head by a protester's sign as they tried to block our way to the door. I was forced to defend myself (which involved disarming the protestor of her sign which read "Meat is Murder") and both me and the restaurant pressed charges. The nut job was convicted of some nuisance charge and was very proud of himself.

I usually hunt in places so remote that no one would even know where I am.

I used to smoke and when someone would come up and make a comment. I would ignore them and I mean just act as if they did not exist. I would do such a good job I bet a few wondered if they did exist.

Never, not once, did they continue. They would say something stare and walk off. If someone completely acts as if you don't exist you can't later say " I wish I had said this or done that". Oh yeah and it is funny

Most places it is illegal to harass hunters while they are hunting, so if somebody is harassing you while in the field call the game warden and let them deal with the person. Now in the situation that you were in it would be different, but if it was serious enough I would call the police and let them deal with that person too, otherwise I would just walk away

I've never been bothered like this...but you do have to commend their commitment. Even if I were an animal rights guru, I doubt I would harass a man (or woman) carrying either a large caliber rifle or a shotgun.

"Gosh Officer, I am really sorry that poor person tripped and fell and shoved that sign up their asss."

"Man, thats really got to hurt!"

"Oh, they ALL have signs shoved up their asses?" "Must be some kind of hippie freak Hale-Bopp Comet cult or something" "Wierd"

Jokes aside, my wife is an animal rights activist. I hunt frequently. She has never hit me with a sign nor complained when I feed her "chicken" or "roast beef".

Should have shot the hippie and told the cops you thought it was a Bigfoot because of the long hair and foul odor!

It is illegal even for a land owner to harass or make excessive noise if you are hunting next to his or her property.

Someone once said
"Never throw shi- at an armed man, and never stand next to someone throwing shi- at an armed man."

Something your attacker had not considered, obviously.
