How Bad does the Air quality have to be to shut down schools in Southern California?
Ok i live in a City called Rancho Cucamonga. It is close to Fontana and in San Bernardino county. Right now at night there are ashes coming down and in our backyard it is black. And our school has not called us telling us that they are closed? And plus this is a High-School so their professional.
How bad does it have to get to shut down school?

I am in the Menifee area (by Sun City-Temecula) and our schools are open but they've closed MSJC and all sports practices etc. They are also not having PE

I attended school in a suburb of Los Angeles in the 1960s and 1970s when air quality was worse than it is now and we never had a day off school for bad air quality. I even remember attending a football game one afternoon where the air was so bad my eyes were stinging so that I could hardly see and I couldn't take a deep breath without coughing. And the football game went on. I don't know how the players did it. But none of the other spectators seemed disturbed by it so I guess I was just extra sensitive to the pollution that day.

Well i live in escondido and our schools are shutting down for the rest of the week.The thing is theres ash falling from the sky.Theres too much smoke and the bad air quality can cause illness or can take u to the hospital.

i live in san diego and when we only saw smoke they cancelled school for the rest of the week so your schools are weird!

I think they will wait until tragedy strikes.You could lodge your complain to the local health authority or take them to court for negligence,

has to be really close to the school..if its really bad do not go,..
