Well yes....

PS3 games are (Mostly) region free.

Blu-ray DVDs are region locked so you'll be up the creek on that 1.

Yes.

Power cord wise it can be anything as long as it fits into the ps3 and that european countries power supply.

Keep these in mind though.

PS3 games are region free so any game designed for the ps3 will work.

PS2 /PS1 games and DVDs are region locked, if you want to play these on the ps3 you will need to own the american versions of them in order for them to function. The same goes for Blu-Ray movies, though there are exceptions where some Blu-Ray movies are region free.

That's what I'm doing all the time! PS3 games are region free. All you need is a good 500W 110V -> 220V power converter. However movies and PS2/PS1 games are region locked - unofficial game stores sell them in Europe.

bro i have lived in the uk for five years, i came from the states when gm transfered me to their vauxhual/opel line. The best thing you can try to do is when you come back take it to a game store and see if you can't buy a playstation power cord for it as they all have a dc step down converter built in. and as har as the reigions your screwed unless you get a hack, im sure there is one around

You may need an adaptor for the power cord, depending on what country you are in the plugs are different shapes, but that may be purchased at any electronics shop in the US rather cheaply before you leave...
