Did you one day say, enough is enough, and just stop?

Did you manage to keep off the booze?

How old were you when you did it?

What made you decide to stop?

How long has it been, and do you not drink at all, ever?

I'm 29 and decided to quit 10 days ago. I'm hoping to never drink again, I think I've drunk enough to cover me 5 lifetimes.

i never had more than 2 drinks, every once in a while, but i could not stop completely. looking at my alcoholic mother scared me enough to go to an AA meeting. i wound up getting a sponsor, and started working the steps, which helped me keep sober, one day at a time. i was 36 at the time, and i have been sober ever since - 10 years now. i still work in the restaurant business, there is booze all around me, and i couldn't care less, as long as i keep spiritually fit.

sorry to answer you back with a question (i am 26 and have majorly cut back....did that this year.....i hated how i felt when getting over being drunk..mentally and physically and i'm looking for a husband, not a drinking partner!) :) anyways, the question is: have you ever read A Million Little Peices? I think it is an awesome book for anyone ever having gone through any type of addiction or even close to one. Don't listen to the past buzz (pun intended) about the book being fake and all of that, it's a damn good book.

anyways, congrats to you by the way!! sounds like you made a good choice! :)

keep going, keep going, remember, if you do it or not, the craving will pass anyway and remember how long you have quit and how much stronger you get everyday. You can do it!!!! Don t be like my boyfriend, he is 28 and tried to stop until new years but failed after 3 weeks, I thought that was so weak and retarded not to be able to control himself.... he is back to being an alcoholic now and I know I won t stay with him or really invest in him or get more serious as soon as he is one. I have nothing against drinking but being an alcoholic is a different matter. Be strong!

I had enough of the chaos at age 30, it has been 19 years since I last drank and do not miss it at all.
