Ribavirin and peginterferon alpha can be considered in an effort to clear out the hepatitis C. To be frank, however, the medicine does not work in all cases, it has to be taken for 1/2 to 1 year, and the side effects can be ferocious. For this reason, it's only given to very specific patients who have hepatitis C. Nonetheless, it's worth talking it over with your doctor.
