Well several things could be done.
Let FOX handle the races.
Stop the CHASE.
Get rid of provisionals.
Drop the stupid top 35 in owner points.
Limit owners to 3 teams.
Open races to ALL makes(Buick.Pontiac,Mercury) not just Ford,Chevy,Dodge,Toyota.
Stop the slap on the wrist penalties, suspend the team from the event they cheat at.
Let the drivers race.Stop the dayyam politics.

Well it's about time BUT I will believe it when it happens.
I think the people are finally realizing that this top 35 rule is a joke. There are legends out there that can't make a race the way they have it structured.
And the CHASE dose not work the way they are doing it. No other sport in the world plays a championship where you work to be the top 10 or 12 players and lets the others keep playing while you 10 or 12 are trying to win a championship.
The green, white, checker rule is OK if you don't go over the race distance. If the race is a 500 then that is what it should be. Or lets call it the somewhere around 500 race. The one race this year they ran past the distance and I think 7 of the top 15 cars had to come in a get gas and that was the end of there race.
That bogity bogity DW thing makes me miss the beginning of every race he dose. Let grow up kids.
OK these are the things that have drove me from being the kind of guy that if it rained on Sunday I worked a 1/2 day on Monday so I could watch the race, to watching maybe 15 races in the year now. I want too but I refuse to be drawn into this childish back yard ruling dictatorship of the France punk.
They may realize too that the way the cup drivers have taken over the busch series is a shame too.
I know there are some that say the coverage is bad but I disagree and I think if you have something good then people are going to watch it.

I do not think the coverage is the problem. Mostly I think NASCAR has peaked a bit. They are reaching every market in North America. If not for the cost I think we would see allot of races going over the pond to try and attract that crowd. The biggest thing I think is that NASCAR has become too diversified. They pilot way too many series. They also are looking to be much bigger than their loyal fans want them to be. It's become way too expensive a sport to go to regularly. I mean after you pay for the ticket which is about 50.00 bucks for the cheap seats then there is parking, on top of that it's getting harder to bring refreshments to the track so you must spend even more. When all is said and done you spend a minimum of 80 to 90 bucks a person and that is W/O any souvenirs or a hotel stay. With the economy these days I can only understand why the rating are going down.

They should leave it with one network.
Shrink the race down to about 2 hours, not 4 or 5 hours now.
They should give 10 additional points for most laps lead instead of 5.
More night races and road racing.
Maybe they should add a dirt race or too.
They should separate the Chase points from Non-chasers.
Winner: 100 points
2nd: 85
3rd: 60
4th: 50
5th: 40
6th: 35
7th: 30
8th: 25
9th: 20
10th: 10
5 additional for lap lead, 10 additional for most laps
This is a real playoff.
The others can race against each other for the title of Non-Chaser Champion in a playoff format too similar to the above.
The winner should get a Non-Chaser Title Cup.

I don't know if DW would want to do 36+ races a year, he's retired and probably likes showing up for 4 months and collecting a check. Still the sport needs a more consistent announce team, three different teams over 3 networks (five if you count ESPN and Speed)
I understand that FOX isn't going to commit to the full run and give up Sunday NFL, maybe if they run the last 12 races on Saturday night.

Lots of good points here, though Buckshot, I find hate morally repulsive. Rivalry is one thing- hatred s another. I find the hatred towards drivers here to be absolutely sick.
Lots of good solutions here but I don't think that will really help "ratings." ESPN's MNF coverage is a horror show worse than Rusty any day of the week (though I think JPM has a better grasp of English than RW has). Ratings are down in all sports Tv-wise.
To the races themselves- get rid of the stupid owners points, let the fastest 43 run, even if Gordon or Stewart have to sit. Get rid of the green-white-checkered. As for the chase, mend it, but don't end it. Provide more incentive to not be safe stinkin' safe all race.

I'd like to see Fox do Nascar atleast till football season starts. Maybe ABC/ESPN should clean house, have guest drivers or something.I know fox will not give up football...But they could extend their coverage till NFL starts...Right now I'd settle just to get Rusty out of the booth.. I'd dump the 35 owner pts crap, let the fastest 43 run.. I'm with you Rockingham Speedway bring it back please, we need the Rock.. Brian brainless France can take a permanent vacation..

less commercials, less whining from NASCAR about "aggressive driving" i mean, come on....that's what it's all about is aggressive driving....if you can't put a bumper to someone then what's the point....the idea is to WIN not to play it safe.....and getting rid of that euro trash COT would help alot too.....i like watching the busch series now more than ever becasue at least the car doesn't look like something that came out of the fast and the furious....but i hear they're going to f*uck with changing the busch cars soon too....and at least fox does cut into the commercials when there a wreck on the track.....the rest of them are too worried about losing that advertising income and then showing us a replay after they get their ad revenue......

Hard to argue with anything PAPABILL mentioned but I would maybe add 1 more - more Saturday night races. Not only do they look great at night in HD. But if they are rained out at least we might be able to see it Sunday afternoon instead of watching foxtraxs or whatever on the 'net at work!

They need some old school rivalries like they had back in the day. Everyone is too nice these days. They have too much to loose if they make their sponsors mad. I wish we could see some out-right hatred between drivers on the track. That would make people watch.
