Its normal to have some lumps or swelling near the incision, and some animals may have slight reactions to the sutures. As long as there is no discharge or excessive swelling things are probably going well.

if there is any swelling it could be a sign of infection... take her back to the vet for a quick look, usually there is no charge to be sure they are doing fine and not infected. It could also be from a stitch, blood clot, fatty tissue deposit so might be nothing, however, if she has a temp then it is likely an infection and needs antibiotics. If you cannot take her temp, and the lump is swollen, red, streaky or any discharge from the incision it's time to visit the vet in the morning.

Eddie, if pus got here out once you utilized tension than in all probability it quite is an infection incision and additionally remember to call and permit your vet medical institution be attentive to approximately it. they're going to in all probability propose bringing her by utilising for a rapid verify to envision that that's contaminated. if so, she will in all probability be placed onto a path of antibiotics. After surgical operation, that's important to decrease the quantity of actual exertion and interest that your puppy has. That became into the incision has a danger to heal and could not advance seromas (a advance of fluid below the exterior from intense circulation or licking). If she is licking the incision, it quite is undesirable. you need to use the lampshade collar that with any luck they sent residing house with you to stop her from doing this as her tongue could reason a lick abrasion and could maximum certainly contribute to it transforming into contaminated. in case you experience that that's "impossible" to maintain her quiet, ask you vet approximately getting some days of sedatives (they are completely risk-free and not "merciless" or "drugging your canine"). i hit upon that heat compressing quite facilitates the two seromas (which will nicely be a typical area of healing and are not an infection) and wallet of an infection. Get a sparkling washcloth and soak it in heat water (not overly warm), then carry the fabric to the area it somewhat is swollen/oozing for 30 seconds, then re-soak the fabric and do it returned. Repeat for as long as she will permit you and do this consultation thrice an afternoon. it is going to help draw out the pus and shrink the inflammation.

One of my pups developed a stitch abscess after she was spayed, it looked like a red pimple and she needed an antibiotic. Otherwise the lump is normal and will eventually disappear.

Usually due to swelling/irritation. If it continues to occur, after the incision is healed, then have a vet check it out.

my fiancees mom just had her great dane puppies spayed, this is normal after the surgery and should go away in a week or so. this happened with one of their dogs. it would be cause for concern though if it is bright red or oozing anything she would probably need to go back to the vet and get checked out.

She is probably having a reaction to the subcutaneous stitches. It is very common and nothing to worry about.
