I have a GMC Sonoma and it is rear wheel drive. I am using bags of wheat to weigh it down but do not know how much I should be using in order to get the best traction. I also dod not want to stress the truck more than it needs to be. Thanks for any help.

Read the owners manual. It will tell you the maximum it will carry.

Traction for the real wheels of a 2 wheel drive Sonoma will be much improved with 100 lbs of wheat (2 50 lb bags).

I've driven a Sonoma in a snowstorm with 2 (50) pound bags of sand. It didn't help one bit. I would recommend at least 300 pounds.

1/2 ton = 150 to 200 lbs
3/4 ton = 250 to 300 lbs

It depends on the capacity of your truck...In your operational manual you should have the specifications there. Also I believe there is a GM and/or Chevrolet owners website where you can get a .pdf copy of your owners manual encase you dont have one.
