Hello, all:

If you look at some of the answers to this question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071023171219AAiVU7b

You will see people saying that this is God's judgement and that they are actually happy that this is happening.

People are losing their homes. People are suffering. People are dying. Not to mention all the animals that have lost their lives and are continuing to be destroyed.

How can anyone actually be *happy* about this, and what are your thoughts about that?

baronvonstrudel, you are in my thoughts and prayers, as is everyone in your area. I'm so sorry you've had to put up with ignorant statements about "God's wrath" on top of all the other stress you're suffering right now.

After reading the answers, I was horrified. I live in southern california, damn it! People throw these horrible disasters around like it's nothing but something that happened in a TV show! This crap is real to me! I'm in real danger. My loved ones are in real danger. And those people who answered are happy about this.

edit- Thanks for your sympathy prairiecrow. I wish more people would stop wondering about whether or not their deity did it and remember that this is actually affecting people in horrible ways.

Only the spiritually dead could be happy about this fire situation. It is not God's wrath, of course. It is unmitigated evil and my prayers go to every person that must suffer through this. It is hard to believe what some people post to this R&S section. In a manner of speaking, they are in more trouble than the fire victims, yet are unaware.

How encouraging to see so many humane & concerned answers. I believe Gypsy made excellent, comprehensive points. Only two answers, other than the "evil" Isaiah, trouble me a bit. Grim Jack justifying being a "Satanist" because of the few horrific answers from those who claim to be Christians, but are not. Also, satan h who has "judged" homosexuals (pejoratively referred to as "queers).
I wonder if Isaiah's answer would be a valid violation, & if anyone would go out on the limb to have his answer removed.

1) they dont live there, they're secure in their own home and their life is not threatened... they havent ever lost a home, family members, pets to fire.
.

i'm a christian, and i've lost a home (thank God not family or pets) to fire.

i do not believe that it is God's punishment. there were churches that also were burned and destroyed.

God is not targeting any particular group of people. God is not the culprit at all.

its the climate, the winds, and the dry season. it happens pretty much every year around that area. and people have chosen to continue to live there.

florida and those southern states have hurricanes, and people still choose to live there.

the midwest has tornadoes, and people still choose to live there.
no place is entirely completely safe.

where ever anyone chooses to live, they must decide to live with it or move.

This makes me recall a recent conversation, in which in context, someone said passionately: "There are BAD Jews, BAD Christians & BAD Muslims!" I responded calmly: "If people are BAD, they are NOT Christians, Jews, Muslims or of any other religion."
This same person, at another time, highly emotional about a disasterous earthquake, asked: "Why did this happen to all these people? Why did God do it?" & I said: "It happened because THEY WERE THERE; it had nothing to do with God."
Isaiah is NOT Christian; HE is full of wrath, not a god. Unless one believes in the falsely interpreted "we are all born in sin," it is an atrocity to believe these thousands of people "deserve" such a horrible tragedy.
I hope this "thorn" (Isaiah) won't bias others about Christianity. My belief or lack of belief in a diety is irrelevant. I have the humanity to care deeply, & sincerely for what these people--& their animals--are going through. I suspect that Isaiah, with such obvious hatred for humans, has even less for animals, (if that is possible).
"Never ask to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee."

I think that anyone who is happy about something like that is definitely sick and twisted. As Christians, how DO they know that God is supposedly passing judgement. They don't, it even says in the Bible that they won't know right away. Those people are mentally messed up in the head and in no way a true Christian.

This Christian finds what was written as extremely distasteful and likely the question was asked to bring out the sickos.

Though this is an extremely bad year, it isn't all that unusual for wildfires during this time of year (when the Santa Ana winds are blowing) and this is about the same time arsonists are out - I am sure some of these fires are because of them.

Those people are te kind of people who give us Christians a bad name! It is not God's wrath. If it was God's wrath, it would have wiped out L.A., or something like that.

This is nothing more than an overwhelming example of wannabe christians who are almost orgasmic over the suffering of others, as long as they're not the ones having to suffer.

They're all hypocrites and detriments to their belief system. They make the "real" christians look bad...and if it were me, and I were a christian, I'd be speaking out with a vengeance against those who pretend to be like me, but in all actuality are nothing like me...

They are fine examples of "by their works shall you know them".

I hope they do their deity proud....
