No. I am a lapsed Catholic but I can assure you that kids aren't told that rape, murder and slavery are good things. I'd love to know were you brought up as a Christian? Did your parents tell you nonsense like this? You have to remember that the Bible is a very old book written in different times. Also, people take from it what they want to take.

The biggest problem nowadays is that there are people out there who twist what's written in the Bible (and the Koran, for that matter) and twist it to suit their nutso thinking. But that's a different matter altogether.

Banning the bible would just cause more trouble. It would make it "sexy" and encourage people who wouldn't ordinarily have read it to do so. There are so many bibles around that there's no way you could obliterate it.

While I do not condone banning a book, it is obvious that some people do not read the bible carefully. Yes, in some of these stories, god has condoned the killing of a rape victim and the murder of a child. While I am not a christian any more, I was once one and very seriously studying to be a nun. So I do understand what these passages mean.

You couldnt! Its been tried in the past and it failed. God wants mankind to read his message. If you have a copy of the Bible, you are far from alone. In whole or in part, the Bible has been published in more than 2,300 languages and thus is available to more than 90 percent of the world’s population. On the average, more than a million Bibles are distributed each week! Billions of copies of either the whole Bible or part of it have been produced. Surely, there is no other book like the Bible.
Rape and Murder were punishable by death and slavery wasnt the cruel way that we know it today.
The original-language words rendered “slave” or “servant” are not limited in their application to persons owned by others. The Hebrew word ‛e′vedh can refer to persons owned by fellowmen. (Ge 12:16; Ex 20:17) Or the term can designate subjects of a king (2Sa 11:21; 2Ch 10:7), subjugated peoples who paid tribute (2Sa 8:2, 6), and persons in royal service, including cupbearers, bakers, seamen, military officers, advisers, and the like, whether owned by fellowmen or not (Ge 40:20; 1Sa 29:3; 1Ki 9:27; 2Ch 8:18; 9:10; 32:9). In respectful address, a Hebrew, instead of using the first person pronoun, would at times speak of himself as a servant (‛e′vedh) of the one to whom he was talking. (Ge 33:5, 14; 42:10, 11, 13; 1Sa 20:7, 8) ‛E′vedh was used in referring to servants, or worshipers, of Jehovah generally (1Ki 8:36; 2Ki 10:23) and, more specifically, to special representatives of God, such as Moses. (Jos 1:1, 2; 24:29; 2Ki 21:10) Though not a worshiper of Jehovah, one who performed a service that was in harmony with the divine will could be spoken of as God’s servant, an example being King Nebuchadnezzar.—Jer 27:6.

Just to let you know, I looked at some of those "verses" on the site and then looked up the REAL verses. Take the "female sex slave" for example. Not true at all. Nothing to do w/sex. She is sold as a maid. NOT a slave, a MAID. This was acceptable back then. We have maids to this day. They are hired help just like a man sold his daughter for back then. This is another case of believing everythinng you read on the internet. God ahead and read what that website says and then go read the REAL verse. Where does it say ANYWHERE in Exodus about a man selling his daughter for sex?????? That site's a load of garbage. They're making stuff up. Think for yourself and don't let one website brainwash you. If you don't believe in the Bible, then fine. You know the Bible will never be banned. That's just a stupid comment. Keep your thoughts to yourself because you're making a fool out of yourself.

if you ban the Bible, then every other book that mentions anything about these will have to be banned also. This would leave, lets see... about twelve books.
The Bible does have some bad stuff in it- because there was bad stuff going on and still is. Bannig the Bible wouldn't change the facts, or protect children from the subject.

You clearly arnt understanding the principles that are being portrayed in the bible then and are judgeing it after our modern day societys views. Sorry but things were different back then and even tho God is the same his commandments change with the different civilizations and the worthiness of the people to accept his word. Look past what you think is automatically bad and understand the deeper message

Dear gravy bones,

Rape, murder, and slavery is not necessarily shown in a 'favorable light' in the bible. Mentioning those things doesn't necessarily mean an endorsement of those things, rather an acknowledgement that they took place.

I don't think the Bible should be banned. It is a part of our history and culture. People religious and none religious read the Bible for all sorts of reasons. I think people should have the freedom to read the Bible if they want to.

No. Once you start banning books you start closing minds. It isn't the book's contents that cause people to do bad things; people will do as they will. They will find their excuses wherever they look. Banning books will never be the answer.
