Most plans now a days come with an unfinished basement.
The land will be the big expense these days.
1500 is average, especially with basement.
Check out these builders for your areas prices...
most of them list them on the website.
In our area to build a basic home with a basement (traditional ranch with vinyl siding), 2 car garage, 3 bedroom around 1500sq ft., including lot prep (like septic and drive way etc.) were looking at $150K.

This depends upon government regulations. Most places will not allow you to build your own house; you know, keep the status quo.
They claim it is for the good of the people; you know, building codes and all that baloney.
My builder used used lumber in my house; the cement floor in the basement was cracked before I moved in, etc., etc., etc.
So, IF, I mean IF you would be allowed to build your own house (depending upon the costs in your region) $30,000 to $40,000 is all. (It could be built for far less if, for instance, you live in the woods of Oregon, California, Montana, Arkansas, where ever, and you fell the trees and built a log cabin; or, in those places with abundant rocks of usable size, use used rocks, etc.)
Half to two thirds of the cost is for labor. Fees, permits, etc., take up hundreds to thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars.

Depends on where you are. Around here they're getting about $200/sqft. That's a little on the high side, I think, but there are probably places higher and definitely places where it's lower.

You work on a cost per square and base your costs on that. That cost will depend on material costs for your particular area.

Hmmmm... well around here it would run you about $100,000. This is quite a rural area so you will also need a well and septic for another $15,000 or so.

it all depends on where you want to build it, country, state, county, because that affects the price of the land, the labour and the supplies.
