While my mind wandered during cross country practice I began to contemplate this. It seems that tears are just salt water, but they are produced by a gland, are they not? So it seems that they should contain DNA. Does anybody know the answer to this?

Well according to research done, tears contain corneal epithelial cells because they naturally shed with time. Putting certain drugs in your eyes like anaesthetic is shown to increase the number of epithelial cells that are removed.

And as we all know, DNA is present in all cells of the body.
