Mostly due to a number of reasons.

First the demographic of the evacuees: educated, employed and law-abiding.

Second would be better planning and organization at the shelter.

'The Government' hasn't even arrived from what I heard, as far as federal support. Anyway, I also heard that it is pretty much do to the fact that this is an affluent area so they got on the ball and got the place looking comfy for everybody instead of waiting around, looting, etc then making their way to the stadium.

Probably because there is food and water, there are emergency workers there with all the supplies they need...Like Toilet Paper. The water is running, so they can flush the toilets...as Opposed to New Orleans where the sewarage lines were already under water.

It's a different demographic. Ever seen those house in the hills? Say what you will about rich people being rude and such, they aren't likely to be shooting at each other in a situation like this.

Could it be different starting points? Most Californians are half crazy already. They don't mind snuggling up with others; known or unknown!

Probably because they have food and water. Their babies are not dying of dehydration and their elders and chronically ill aren't being left to die in their wheelchairs for lack of medication.

The weather is better. They had more time to prepare. The government was ready with relief supplies. They had more places to go than just one stadium so it's not instantly overcrowded.

10,000 people in parking area in RV's acting like a party, not trapped or wet, or hungry, they run out of food and water, and the fire gets close look out, people are people, and stress is stress.
