My eye doctor is a friggin crackhead, even WITH the glasses on, I can barely read the words on the board at school. Do I need a prescription for contacts or can I just buy them?

Could be an error in the prescription. If you're not satisfied with the glasses, bring them back. If you were to say that there was a little discomfort, I'd say deal with it. But it seems like you're having more issues with the new glasses.

As for contacts, you can just buy them, but you need a prescription, which you could have obtained at the same time you visited the eye doctor for glasses, however, they do subject you to a few additional tests to make sure you can actually wear contacts. Most people can by the way.

Bottomline, go back to the doctor and let him know your issue. Have him re-evaluate your eyes, and while he's at it, tell him you want to get a prescription for contacts as well. Done deal.

Take your glasses back to the dr. and ask him if the lab got the prescription right because you can't see very well. You can get a new prescription in your glasses if the lab screwed up, or you can ask the dr. to fit you with contacts (that will be an extra charge). You have to have a prescription for contacts.

You have to get another eye exam. They have to get your prescription right, then they have to 'size' your eyes for contacts. Not everyones eye is the same size!

You will need to have the contacts prescribed to you. But go back to your optometrists and tell them your glasses are wrong for you.
