Ok...I have NOTHING against gay people but one of my friends is gay and he says that he's a Christian.

I thought that the bible condemned homosexuality, if so, how can there be a homosexual Christian.

And btw, he's not the only person I know that says this. There are gay pastors and bishops...

Gay "Pastors" are only leading their flock astray. To become a true Christian, the homosexual must repent his sins of homosexuality, and leave that lifestyle behind, then, and only then, will he receive the forgiveness of God.

Before i answer you, i must say that I'm an atheist. Just saying, so that you read my response from that point of view.

Not according to fundamentalist Christianity. You are right, the bible does condemn homosexuality, so those who are Christian and gay are contradicting their own being. Your friend might like the many messages Christianity gives out and demonstrates in the bible, but partial observance of these messages does not make him Christian. What i mean to say is that he can't selectively choose to abide by some parts of the bible and completely ignore others. That would not make him a true Christian. In my pinion this is actually what many people who claim to be Christian do, which i find to be treacherous and misleading.

Then again, this is only the opinion of one atheist. There are many different ways of looking at this.

The good book actually says in a very literal translation, that homosexuals are not accepted by GOD and should be killed. I wish i could remember the context better. However I am a fan of the great fictional book, i mean the writer was no Shakespeare or JK Rowling (who just for the record, out sold the bible this past year) but still has some faithful fan base nonetheless. I actually feel bad because now I have insulted the gay Christians as well, when my only point was to say that ignorant people(select few Christians) discriminate by wanting their believes followed and spit in the face of other cultures. The bible for one was not meant to be taken so literal. Its a book of morals. Morals are not embedded in stone, I mean what happen during the crusades, killing in the name of..come on now. the point is times change, technology advances and people evolve(even though homosexuality has been all throughout history and was even encouraged by he great Roman army that is so well praised by the pop culture in movies and TV). But instead of changing, people revert to fear and there in lies the injustice. Discriminating is one of the greatest flaws the human race has, whether against religion, heritage or race, every one wants superiority, and if it could be eliminated, we as a race could make leaps and bounds into the future instead of bombing each other into the past.(apologizes for shitty grammar and run-ons)

No not at all, thats not bibilically sound. I think you have some solid answers from believers in Christ and the word of God so I'll focus my answer on the fact...that we are to be separated from the world and to be come like our Lord. Separated from sin, if we cleave to it ourselves then we cant be much of a witness to the world. Many pastors or leaders of churches that do not teach the body of Christ how to separate from sin, and i mean any, then they will be accountable and under the same judgment of that sin. They are in fact leading their followers into the pit of hell and the book of Revelations is clear on the Church's and what will happen to them.

Its no wonder that most of the world today cant place any trust in or believe in religion, and quit frankley i dont blame them!! I dont think , while the R&S shows a lots of slandering of Christ, that the world has a problem with him so to speak. They can only see what a person who says they are christian is doing, and a lot of that time is not what they say it is. Now i can understand the true struggle and how a person can fall on their face and blow it as a christian at times, but the world wont. See the truth is its called a "walk" and it takes time to work it out. We dont do things right from the get go, especially when you come to know the Lord later in life. Thats why the Old testement is a good guide on who God is, what happens to a body of people when they disobey or stray away. Certainly many focus on God or who they think he is, or why all the bad stuff that happened to his people. Well the same goes for us now, rebellion hasnt changed much. If believers dont know how to effectivley show that balance of love and obediance to the world and the mercy God does have on a repentive heart then the world will go on being decieved by the enemy of their souls!! We have to make sure all the 'dark " places in our lives are exposed giving no place for the devil to hold over you . He only has the past if you accepted Christ as your savior, so kicking that sin in the knees and saying goodbye to it, its the first real taste of freedom you will Love!!! So the sin of homosexuality needs to be exposed and taught that freedom can come. Believers stand up for your King, so the world can see the light shine on that freedom.

As his understanding grows, he will part with the homosexuality. This is a natural effect when Christianity elevates thought out of mortal misconceptions. For now he can call himself a Christian, if he is pointing himself in that direction and learning. If he soen't progress far enough here and now to part with the problem, he will be forced to hereafter. Basically, why wait?

Contrary to the blatherings of the butterscotch moron, sinning does not mean that one is not a Christian. Practicing sin unrepentantly, or condoning wickedness however would be impossible for a true Christian. Therefore no homosexual could be Christian since they practice and condone what the Bible condemns as perverted wrongdoing.

God made man and woman and told them to be fruitful and multiply. Marriage is a sacrament before God so that the union between the man and woman is blessed. A child is a physical manifiestation of a spiritual truth-the two shall become one. Homosexuality is a lie put forth by Satan. Satan seeks to kill, steal and destroy humans. The Bible says homosexuals will pay for this sin in their own body. Life expectancy rates in this country for homosexuals are 20 years below the national norm. It is unnatural and disordered lust of the flesh. People, especially Christians, are supposed to live via the Holy Spirit which resides in them. Your body is the Temple of God. Homosexuality is a choice. It is learned behavior. Homosexuals want to make it a civil rights issue (which it is not) by saying they are born that way so as to absolve themselves of guilt. God made us to live in perfect bliss on this Earth to have fellowship with Him. All imperfections and discord come from Satan and our decision to follow our own ways instead of God's. Look at what it has cost us. Read Romans chapter 1 verses 19-32

As I'm sure you know, Christians can commit sin and they also can say things that are wrong. So the fact that these people are sinning in this way does not necessarily make them non-Christian.

For a Christian to deliberately do something that he knows is a serious sin, could cause him to forfeit his salvation, since in doing that act he is rejecting God and his laws.

The problem is, we don't know for sure if these people are deliberately committing serious sins. They may be successfully fooling themselves into thinking it's fine.

This should cause them to have guilt feelings. Unfortunately, the liberal media and their gay friends have probably convinced them that any guilt they experience is only due to the intolerance of society and the way they were raised. This is what I consider dangerous about the "gay liberation" movement, or whatever it's called: It blunts people's consciences, causing them to sink deeper into sin.

It would seem that you have meet more than a few. Do you find truth in them or strangers on line. As I have been told Christianity is about a personal relationship. It seems that some like to nose into others relationships rather they be physical or spiritual.

Good question. I guess you would have to skew certain parts of the bible to suit your own needs; just like what people (gay or not gay) have been doing with the bible for thousands of years. Just like how it says in the bible in the ten commandments, "Thow shalt not kill", yet many wars have been fought in the name of God and Christianity.
