so loyal to our sport? Also, why is it so hard for some to ask genuine NASCAR questions?

we might be tempted to kill each other, but we'd fight to the death FOR each other. Among the drivers, there's someone for everyone.
The governing body has made lots of mistakes, but never forget, that compared to the other sports, we have an awesome product, and the powers that be aren;t afraid of change once they get a clue.
As for asking genuine questions, I think most folks do the best they can. This sport is a little more technical, and I'll admit I don't get a lot of it. The personality questions are just easier to ask.
I love how this is a sport where there's almost as many female fans as there are men, and they're pretty doggone smart about their NASCAR.

Well most people mentioned great points already. If I could add anything it would be that NASCAR makes the sport so accessible to the fans. If you go to a NASCAR race, it's a party all weekend long. You can go to the merchandise haulers for each driver and most of the time the drivers will be there signing autographs hours before the race gets underway.

If you are lucky enough to get pit passes, you will be able to walk around the garage area during race weekend and even during the race itself. You will be able to stand there as all the drivers and their cars roll by you just a few feet away. There you can also keep interacting with the drivers.

What other sport lets the fans walk through the locker rooms during game day? What other sport can you even imagine the stars and players even being ok with the fans being that close to the action.

NASCAR offers so many personalities. The drivers come from all areas of the globe. There is a driver that all fans can identify with and support.

Well to start out I've followed NASCAR since 1960.This was when I saw my first race.It was a 200 lap event at the 1/4 mile "Dixie Speedway" in Midfield Alabama. The race was won by Ned Jarrett.
I was hooked and now 47 years later I am still a fan and will be a fan.
I don't ask questions. There are a ton that I want to but the fans that are "band wagon" fans(these are the one that are fans of the most popular driver or the driver that is in first place in the championship) would not understand.
Some of my answers have offended some fans in this forum but hey that's life. The drivers of the 50's,60's,70's paved the way for the Gordon's,Johnson's,Stewarts's,Earnhardts's,Kahne,s,
Kensethes so forth.....
I've watched owners from the 60's and 70's do the same thing as owners today in building mega teams, only to have the teams fall apart.
What does it take to be a fan ?
Someone that loves the sport and can take the criticism as well as dish it out.But always love the sport.

Once you figure out that it's "more than a bunch of cars driving in a circle" you're hooked on it. Unlike other racing leagues, NASCAR doesn't put the race entirely in the driver's hands. It's all about equipment, pit stops, and the crew chief's ability to adjust the car as track conditions change.

As far as people not asking genuine questions, they're really not fans. They know very little about the sport, and are probably cheering for their driver because their friends told him that he was good.

The stupid questions are always going to be there, and I try and have fun with them. It's a game for me to try and come up with an answer that'll show them how stupid they are. If I can make some of the real fans laugh with my responses, then my job is done!

Nascar gives fans a greater chance to have their favorites win. There are 50 drivers so each fan usually has 3 or 4 they like.

The fact that Nascar rules and specifications are not publicized or generally well known makes lots of fans hesitant to ask or answer questions other than which driver is the best or best looking.

Nascar needs to put out at least a fan rulebook that has some car spec rules and general racing rules. They will never release the official book of course.

Well according to a lot of people, we all live in trailer parks, have the IQ of a tree stump and are Red Necks. NASCAR car fans are the most loyal of all fans, most likely the most intelligent about the sport of all fans and in my opinion have the most class. You can go to a race and it is a real family outing. Most female NASCAR fans are real car fans, they know their stuff about the sport. I think you have to have oil running thru our veins, luv the smell of the high octane fuel burning, the noise, the speed, the cars and the people. Then your a race fan.
