I am lazy...I admit it...

Am I going to hell now (or whatever similar evil place of suffering) just for acting on my natural instinct ???

Its only a sin, when you refuse to do anything, and become a freeloader. If your naturally a little lazy its not a sin.

Sloth is a deadly sin because... what if EVERYONE were lazy? What would the world be like?
We are meant to be productive - people who are responsible, care about and help one another - how do you do that if you are keeping a dent in the couch?
Working hard is much more rewarding and satisfying - and people LIKE you for good reason. Gotta stop the sloth or big problems are coming. Like - so while you are lazy who is supposed to pay your bills?
Remarkably immature answers above... don't you think?

When sloth is called a deadly sin, that doesn’t mean it's deadly on its own, it means that it will put you in danger of committing sin.

The reason is that we need to control our nature. We are not animals who must always act according to instinct. If we were, then we would not have the intellect which allows us to define the word "instinct" in the first place. The fact that we can think about things is what gives us the potential to master them. We're not animals and we're not robots, we're free men.

You may often feel lazy, but you can overcome it. If you don't, you put yourself in danger of being mastered by your instincts and urges and passions, and becoming a slave to them. Once you're a slave to your passions, they will drive you to commit sin which in itself is serious and deadly and will kill the life of your soul. *That's* what can result in your going to hell.

It isn't a sin, its just not a good idea. Think about if you did nothing but sleep all day you would get bed sores or if you never took a bath you would smell like a dead skunk that has been on the side of the road for a month. Most of the so called "deadly sins" are just common sense. Minus the bull crap about god of course.

The 7 deadly sins are vices, not true sins.

No one really knows where the 7 deadly sins came from, but they probably originated in ancient Greece. They are not biblicaly based, although they are addressed in Christianity going back to Pope Gregory.

Pride vs. Humility:
Seeing ourselves as we are and not comparing ourselves to others is humility. Pride and vanity are competitive. If someone else's pride really bothers you, you have a lot of pride.
Avarice/Greed :
Generosity This is about more than money. Generosity means letting others get the credit or praise. It is giving without having expectations of the other person. Greed wants to get its "fair share" or a bit more.
Envy vs. Love:
"Love is patient, love is kind…" Love actively seeks the good of others for their sake. Envy resents the good others receive or even might receive. Envy is almost indistinguishable from pride at times.
Wrath/Anger:vs. kindness:
Kindness means taking the tender approach, with patience and compassion. Anger is often our first reaction to the problems of others. Impatience with the faults of others is related to this.
Lustvs.Self control:
Self control and self mastery prevent pleasure from killing the soul by suffocation. Legitimate pleasures are controlled in the same way an athlete's muscles are: for maximum efficiency without damage. Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth. Sex, power, or image can be used well, but they tend to go out of control.
Gluttony vs. Faith and Temperance :
Temperance accepts the natural limits of pleasures and preserves this natural balance. This does not pertain only to food, but to entertainment and other legitimate goods, and even the company of others.
Sloth vs. Zeal:
Zeal is the energetic response of the heart to God's commands. The other sins work together to deaden the spiritual senses so we first become slow to respond to God and then drift completely into the sleep of complacency

Slothfulness casts one into a deep sleep, and the idle person shall suffer hunger.

There's no mortal sin or anything as ridiculuos as the concept itself. In ancient times people were inclined as much as we are now to be lazy but if they had been lazy humans would long have been extinguished. People needed to learn and for that they need to do something, search, grow, progress, etc. so they had to invent the sin thing as when we are children and our parents set limits to us.

I guess it's because you're not working to make food and put food on the table. It's damaging to your community is the theory. I think it's just to make hobo's feel bad.

You're not going to "hell". everybody deserves some rest, but if you're a 800 pound fatty who doesn't get out of bed, and demands other's feed you, then I'd have to say that's a deadly sin. I'm sure your heart would agree.
