severe scoliosis can be corrected by surgery
mild scoliosis can cause backaches at times but wearing good shoes that keep your body in alignment helps to prevent backaches
also some people wear a back support to keep the spine aligned
many people have the milder form and do not know it
the tell tale sign is one shoulder is slightly lower than the other due to the spinal curvature
there was a girl in school who had a bad case
she had surgery was in a body cast for a while and to this day 45 years later has no problems or re occurrence
it is only tragic when it is a non correctable condition
this is totally fixable

Not really; I have scoliosis and I don't consider it tragic. The worst that could happen is she may need surgery someday (only a small percent of people with scoliosis need surgery, though). As long as you don't make a big deal out of it and embarrass her all the time, she can have as great a life as anyone else.

No.
I had scoliosis. A 72 degree curve, corrected to 18 degrees.
Cancer is tragic.
Sudden death is tragic.
MS is tragic.
Saying scoliosis is tragic is like saying the needing glasses is tragic. Its incredibly common.
