I had two very impacted wisdom teeth extracted a week ago today. I have been suffering for days with jaw/chin pain. I went back to the office today, had an x-ray and they identified either a root tip or a bone fragment lodged in my jaw.

I will be having to travel tomorrow to see the oral surgeon who treated me last week, as his office is in another town. He will be sedating me and removing it.

My questions:
Is this common?
Am I going to hurt more or have some relief after this is over?
Do you think he will charge me to remove this?

Thanks for your expert opinions. I have been in a lot of pain and I am relieved to know there was an actual problem causing this and I was not being overly sensitive.

SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS WITH EXTRACTIONS, YOU WILL GET MUCH RELIEF AFTER ALL IS DONE. WHETHER HE DECIDES TO CHARGE YOU DEPENDS ON HIS OWN DISCRETION. IF HE HIMSELF DID THE ORIGINAL EXTRACTION, HE OUGHT NOT CHARGE YOU.
