so lets just say that everyone in the world signed a peace treaty
there were no more ( large scale ) wars
we begin to fix the global warming problem and all the natural dissasters would begin to ease up ( of course there would still be some )
would you be happy to sign this ?
would you be happy to help fix the ozone ?
would you be happy to take part in making the world better ?

Yes, I would be happy to take part in making the world better, by all means. But I would never think nor dream of anything about Armageddon or global catastrophe or the 'end of the world' . Scary! I wanna see and enjoy my grandchildren first, (if my children will ever get married and produce some wonderful offspring!).

A sad fact is that something as perfect as a global peace is beyond humanity. We are defined by conflict, it is in conflict that humans, as individuals and as societies, find themselves or they find themselves lacking. Without conflict humanity would simply suffocate under its own weight. No matter how much I, or anyone else, would want such a treaty it is an impossibility.

And all the environmental "problems" are actually more human issues more then anything else. Life on this planet has been here for billions of years and has endured far worse things then us, it will be here long after we have disappeared. The only thing threatened by global warming and natural disasters is us, life in general is hardly in danger.

God set time in motion - God put eternity in the hearts of man - only He knows when He will bring the end of what we know here. No peace treaty will change a thing. There will however be a peace treaty in the worlds eyes coming from the middle east - and ppl will be fooled into thinking *we have peace and security on the earth* -- but it will be a false peace and a false security....
Only Jesus will bring true peace - He is the Prince of peace

~~Yeshua HaMeshia~~

I know you're question will sound interesting to those who don't understand this - as for myself i can't deny who my God is and what He's revealed to me and my fellow believers - so for this reason i am only able to live by God's will and know these problems will never be fixed by human effort - but by God alone moving in His people. We can not deny the truth.

As Christians we are already taking part in making the world a better place - b/c we have the one and only true and living God living in us - guiding us. You are unable to recognise this b/c you don't know Him - but one day it will all make sense.
Shalom

There is a real misconception amongst people who do not read the bible, that Armageddon is an event. According to the bible, it is a PLACE where world leaders will come together to discuss what is to be done. So yes. it's likely that what you are suggesting will happen but the end will still come when Jesus returns. Along with the eventuality of that meeting in Armageddon, everything else also points to His coming back soon :)

Its not going to happen without it happening the way God has foretold...but we would all be happy to do all we can to make the world a batter place. The point is that man cannot do it alone...we need God. Through Him, all things are possible. Without Him, nothing is possible.

*edit: I guess it would depend on what the peace treaty said...if it just said all nations agree to take reasonable steps to protect the environment, I would sign it....if it said we must work in some way to embrace all religions of the world, I would say no (that would be a good indicator of the antichrist).

Sure. The Earth is God's creation, and it's a shame to trash it up. But what you've mentioned is just a few of the sins. There are the sins of rejecting Jesus as Lord & the only source of salvation. That's the #1 sin. Along with that is that the world isn't living for Him. If the world was living for Jesus, not only would we have taken care of the world better, but also there wouldn't be sin like arrogance, pride, greed, strife, lust, immoral sexuality (pre-marital sex, homosexual sex, selfish sex, etc), murder of pre-born humans, murder, waste, thanklessness, name calling (against anyone, including gay slurs, political slurs, religious slurs like "fundie", and all slurs), porn, parents not taking care of their kids, kids fighting their parents, vile language, and all that is not PURE.

I would be happy to sign such a peace treaty. But I tell you, there will never be peace neither on earth nor in each of our souls unless we accept Jesus as Lord and live for Him, doing as He says.

And it won't stop Armageddon. Environmental and world peace is not submission to Jesus. And that's who it's all about. It's Jesus. Now include in your peace treaty every person (in repentance) on earth kneeling and confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord, and then you might have a more perplexing scenario. When will people realize that it's not about us, it's not about worldly things, it's about Jesus and living for Him? This world is so lost that it just doesn't seem to get it.

I would not be happy to sign it because it doesn't address the problem of traumatizing, bad movies like The Notebook. I would be happy to make the world a better place, but I don't see how your plan would work without eliminating The Notebook from our vocabulary, thereby making me happy. You cannot have peace until everyone is at peace wouldn't you agree?

I certainly hope so. People have to collectively work for Peace. We are all together in this. I think its about time that people start to put things into perspective on not merely rely on goverments to do this.
