Have you ever called Discover to request that they STOP sending you their checks? I've called them twice and made that request and both times I was told it would take a month or two, but that they would stop. The first call was about 18 months ago, the second was about 6 months ago. I seem to be getting a book of checks almost every week! I would be willing to bet that at least half of the shredded material in my office trash can is Discover checks and the other half is other Discover related material with my account number attached!

Don't call. Send them a letter to the correspondence address listed on your statement. Be very emphatic that you do not want those checks and have made several request to stop sending them.

If you're only getting one check mailing a week, you're lucky. I get two and three. Plus the phone calls offering special interest rates for balance transfers at least once a week.

Tell them that if they don't take your request to opt out seriously, you will close your account for good!

They may not want to lose you as a customer and when you tell them your not willing to be a victim of identity theft because of their special offers, they should comply!

Discover is, in my experience, the worst credit card issuer I've ever dealt with. Wouldn't touch them again with a ten foot pole...
