I am sick of the same 'ole, same 'ole. Beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, or french fries. Does anyone have some new ideas? How about some unique ways to prepare the hot dogs?

hot dog caserole

1 (28 ounce) can baked beans
2 (16 ounce) packages hot dogs, sliced
1 (7.5 ounce) package corn bread mix

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F
Pour the can of beans into a 9x13 inch baking dish so they cover the bottom. Arrange hot dog slices so they cover the beans as completely as possible. If too much juice seeps through to the cornbread, it will take longer to cook. Prepare cornbread mix according to package directions. Spread the batter evenly over the hot dog layer.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cornbread is cooked through. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.

Try some onion rings or a loaded baked potato. Pasta salad also works good. Corn on the cob always a favorite. A nice leafy salad is a good match. Fried dill pickles are always good. Drain the pickle chips, dip in egg & buttermilk mixture, dredge in 1/2 C flour & 1/2 C corn meal, salt, pepper. onion & garlic powder. Fry in 350 degree vegetable oil till brown, about 5 minutes.

As for dogs, I grill them, wrap them in foil with sliced onion and grill for about 10 to 15 minutes. Cook them on a griddle till done, then place in a hot beer bath. I also deep fry them in vegetable or peanut oil. Fry till the skin breaks. Try dressing them with sauteed onions, chili and different kinds of cheese.

We grill potato slices when grilling hamburgers. They're sort-of like potato chips only more substantial and much healthier. You take a regular baking potato, clean it, slice it lengthwise into 1/4 inch slices. Put the slices into a plastic container or plate w/ water so they don't brown. Nuke the slices (still in the water) in the microwave (or you could boil them but easier w/ the microwave) until they are soft but not falling apart - maybe a minute or two per potato? I usually nuke one at a time. Drain them, pat them dry w/ a towel, sprinkle salt, pepper, olive oil, and some paprika or whatever spice you're into (sometimes I use curry but my wife isn't into that). Then grill them on medium heat - make sure your grill is "seasoned" so they don't stick. Repost if you don't know what seasoning your grill means. Grill each side like a minute or two until crispy. Not the easiest thing to make but Delicious!

One of my favorites :)
Easy and delicious!

Mad Dogs

1 hot dog
1 slice Cheddar cheese
1 slice bacon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Using a knife, make a slit along the entire length of the hot dog that's about 3/4 of the way through the hot dog. Break the cheese slice into 2 pieces and stuff each piece into the slit in the dog. Wrap the bacon slice around the hot dog in a spiral fashion, then secure all with a toothpick. Place on a cookie sheet or baking dish.
Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 11 to 15 minutes, or until bacon is crisp.

OR

Saucy Franks with Rice

4 bacon strips, diced
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup chopped green pepper
1/3 cup chopped celery
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1 (16 ounce) package hot dogs, cut into bite-size pieces
5 cups hot cooked rice

In a saucepan over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon to paper towels; set aside. Drain, reserving 1 tablespoon of drippings. Saute onion, green pepper, celery and garlic in drippings until tender. Add pineapple juice, ketchup, salt and chili powder; mix well. Bring to a boil. Add hot dogs; return to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5-8 minutes or until heated through. Serve over rice. Sprinkle with bacon.

Instead of hamburgers, make a meatloaf! It's really very simple. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. I use 1-1/2 pounds of ground round, 1/2 pound of ground pork, 2/3 cup of ketchup/catsup, one egg, 2 tablespoons of mustard, 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped garlic (it comes already chopped by the jar as well), 2/3 cup of milk and 3 slices of diced bread. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly by hand and form into a large oval (no taller than 3 inches high).
Line a rectangular loaf pan with aluminum foil for easy clean up. Place the meatloaf in pan and bake uncovered for one hour. At that point brush on a thin layer of ketchup and bake for another 30 minutes. Let it sit for 5 minutes after removing from oven and serve over pasta. BON APPETITO!
Did you know that you can cook those hotdogs in the oven at 350 for 12 minutes and the fat all but burns away? Also, use salsa as a condiment on them instead of ketchup/catsup.

I dont know about hotdogs....you can put cheese and spinach or broccolli in the center of hamburgers and that is yummy!

Also you can chop up mushrooms and spinach and mix it with the meat and make into burgers.

OR add bacon, cheese and an onion ring with some bbq sauce....western burger!

sloppy joes or add chili to a burger or a hot dog

I make a chicken salad w/ low fat may, grapes and almonds and chicken and bow tie pasta.

Cranberries and almonds and chicken as well, or turkey works too.

Potato salad made instead with cucumbers, dill dip, bacon pieces, and radishes.

OR sour cream, bacon bits, chives, and shredded cheddar.

Instead of mashed potatoes you can do mashed cauliflower.

OH...hot dogs wrapped in american cheese and then a raw crescent roll and then bake! Pigs in a blanket!

We also cut up cucumbers and tomatoes and doused them in vinegar and salt and pepper, if you like onions you can add them too. We always loved that as kids.

Tuna salad-small shell noodles, miracle whip, chopped celery, fine shredded cheddar- you can use tiny ring noodles too

Greek salad-cucumbers sliced, chopped tomatoes, kalamata olives and feta cheese, balsamic vinegar and olive oil-sprinkle with oregano-soooooo gooooood

Sliced zuchini with melted cheddar on it

I love this one. Sliced green peppers, little red potatoes, chopped onion with butter and sprinkled with garlic and pepper. If you grill you can put this tin foil and right on the grill

Sour Kraught ? on brats

deviled eggs
