I have no idea what the answer to your question is in this day and age., However, rather than trusting one of us; give your army recruiter a call. He can give you the straight dope. If you are wanting 11 Bravo I would not worry about him lying to you

Depends where you are, the UK has a cut off time of 27 (32 for some roles), the US is a lot less fussy about the fitness and standards of it's recruits and accepts up to age 42.
If you join now you would be pretty guaranteed to see some combat somewhere I'm sure.

Think you have to under 26 for infantry. The war may still be going in 2 years but possibly with some other nation thats on the Government's hit list.

If you can take a 20 or so year old, ordering you about, and you think you can take army life, then go for it.
I wonder how long you have wanted to join up. If you have only been thinking about it for a few months, forget it, I think you are using it to get away from normal life. You're looking for structure. You'll find it in the army, but your heart needs to be there, is yours?? War is not a nice thing, people get blown up and bits blown off their bodies, bombs and bullets bring destruction and terrible injuries, can you face that??
Sorry if I sound horrid, I just want to be straight with my answer.
Good Luck in whatever you decide.

I have doubts about your physical fitness at age 40 especially for Infantry training..but I have serious doubts about your mental health at age 40 wishing to "see action"..I have seen it..It isnt a film. It isnt fun...why dont you just **** in your pants whilst someone vomits on you in your own living room and save yourself all the travelling?

The US Army, in all likelihood, will have a presence in Iraq at least through the middle of 2009, and has a continued presence in Afghanistan that will also be ongoing through at least the beginning of the next administration.

If you're in shape, why not. But you will be a private receiving orders from a 20 something NCO or 20 something 2nd Lt. You'd better be prepared psychologically. Good luck.

no, 27 is the cut off unless you have a particularly special skill- i.e. if you were an amazing bomb disposal technician or master translator or something.
You will no way get in the infantry at 42, soz.
