Once we got a wide-screen TV, we couldn't use our entertainment center anymore -- it was made for the old-style square TVs. Has anyone found a good use for an old entertainment center?

My old entertainment center (with a square for the TV and 4 shelves behind some glass panels) is in my entry way.

A wine rack fits where the TV used to go. The top tends to be for mail sorting and the shelves is where we store mail and stuff for the family members who live elsewhere during the week.

Some people are moving the nicer entertainment center into their bedrooms, even though there is no place for a TV in a married couple's room, but that is neither here nor there.

Most though are simply donating them for a tax write off. Believe it or not, there are many that refuse to move into the digital age.

I gave away my old entertainment center to my brother in law. We went from a 27" tube tv to a 42" plasma. We had to buy a new entertainment center for it. You will probably have to do the same.

Move it to the garage for storage shelves.

When DVDs came out I used my old VHS storage shelf as a shoe rack.

I put mine in our laundry room and labeled the spaces for individual family members to put their clothes in untill i get ready to take them to the rooms. It works great for me. I use the big square space to put my laundry soap, bleach, fabric softner etc..
