Tried answering last night but ran out of answers so I had to wait. Yes, I would call stateboard if I knew about someone working without a license. It's illegal. People pay thousands of dollars to go to school and get their licenses so they can do hair. Would you call someone if a pilot wasn't certified to fly? Do the right thing and call. You owe it to every cosmotologist out there.

One would assume you mean notifying the State Board of Health (or your states version there of) that they are not licensed? And would you be calling because you know and do not like them? Or because they lack the proper paper from the state?

I would most likely let them alone unless they were doing something incredibly dangerous. You can get a really horrible hair cut from a licensed salon so what good does reporting someone else do? Licensing does not necessarily protect the consumer, it does however benefit the state. When I was a kid there was no licensing needed to cut hair, perm or color and somehow we all survived, as did our hair.

Now, IF they butchered your hair that's another thing.

You wold want to call the state board for certification reasons. I understood your question. It doesn't have anything to do with being "fair", but it is an issue. I think that the BBB would be the place to go, they should be able to direct you to the right person. Have you thought about confronting the manager/owner of the salon first, might be a good first step.

If they are working as hairdressers without a license? Maybe. But remember, what comes around goes around. Maybe you should just let it take its course. If they suck, then they will make mistakes and get the salon sued. Why are you so worried about it? Take your issues out on them in some other way.

It would depend on why you are needing to call the State Board. If it is about cleanliness issues YES! call! IF it is about licensing issues....YES! I have had to go to college to get my credentials and license, so why should anyone else who needs one, work without theirs. Really without knowing why you feel the need to maybe call the State Board...it's difficult to answer you.

what would the violation be??? your question isn't clear.
call if they aren't licensed, the rest of us that are legal, put a lot of time and effort into getting where we are now and they are risking clients health and safety. CALL, do you need your states #, i'll get it for you.

I'd call the local better business bureau, they could direct you in appropriate actions.
