Well, this question will be easy to answer since my mom works at the hospital. I asked her the same question because, like you I also needed as much information as I could get for school. When a blood clot is formed, it forms in between the brain and the skull. It then puts pressure on the brain tissue. The following are symptoms of a blood clot in
the brain:
-Confusion
-Slow-thinking
-Personality changes
-Headaches
-Speaking difficulties (maybe)
-Paralysis
-Seizures
The causes are usually from injury to the head, minor head or neck trauma, or bleeding problems.
Well I hope that this bit of information answered your questions. Glad to have been of some assistance!

Is it warm to the touch? If so, it could very well be an insect bite, most likely a spider. The best thing to do though is see a doctor, blood clots usaslly are much smaller than you would think. I've never heard of a blood clot being so bad that you could see it from the outside of the body.

It depends on where exactly in the head the clot is. There are several illnesses that involve clots in the head. You might try reading a little about each on Wikipedia to get a sense of what they're all about and see if your teacher was asking specifically about one or another. They are,
* Subdural hematoma.
* Epidural hematoma.
* Intracerebral hemorrhage
* Subarachnoid hemorrhage (technically not a clot but close enough)
* Cerebrovascular accident
* Venous sinus thrombosis
Good luck!

That would require some form of imaging protocol, Tomography or CAT scans. The symptoms OF a blood-clot are varied, and are usually progressively worsening as the clot causes more brain-damage as time passes.

This is called a stroke. The part of the brain where the clot is located stops working properly.

You can't actually. Maybe a few headaches or a case of nausea here and there, but nothing too obvious. There are no nerve endings on the brain.
