If you were about to be eaten by vampires it seems praying to a god would be rather pointless because:
1) This god you pray to doesn't, and never has existed.
2) This god you pray to doesn't care whether you are eaten or not.
3) This god you pray to isn't the all powerful, omnipotent being you thought it was.
