since you said graphics, you definetly want the ps3. ps3 games are produced on blu-ray disc which can hold up to 50gb of data. this means more stuff to make HD graphics look better. xbox uses dvd which can only hold 8.5gb. graphics will look WAY better on ps3 by next year because the developers will get used to the system.

If you want to get into technical terms here it is.

Xbox 360 uses a dvd-9 format which holds 8.5gb of data, for games to fit onto a disk for playing it has to undergo some compression which obviously affects the quality, though the textures are a small part of the disks some could argue this will make graphics look worse.

The ps3 relies on the blu-ray format, a single or dual layer disk will hold 25 - 50gb of data which means that the developers do not have to compress the data onto the disk allowing for a full quality in a high definition form.

While both consoles are capable of outputting hi-def the 360 is literally just upscaling the games while the ps3 games are outputting hd without upscale.

If you look at the images of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo 5 on the ps3 you can see the high quality I am referring too.

A shining example of what a ps3 is capable of.

I would compare multi platform releases but it really wouldnt be a fair comparison since majority of them are badly ported from the 360 to the ps3.

PS3 is good for graphics because of the graphic card. The 360 is good for games because Halo 3 is this years new "Hot Button"

Technically the PS3 is much better. Realistically, the 360 as it is much easier to program. As such game developers are putting out nicer looking 360 games (in general... there are exceptions).

working at a top consumer electronics store, i can tell u tht PS3 is probably slightly better because its newer and has the latest technology. but overall, Xbox 360 is better value for money and you will still get great quality gaming

PS3 is slightly better, but it's difficult to compare them - archtecture is different, chips are using different principles, memory is divided differently, but PS3 is still stronger - it's centrall processor can can calculate graphics too. Check out HD videos of PS3 exclusives ( www.ign.com www.n4g.com ) - you'll see - PS3 is better.

PS3 has more power. Yet no developer has tapped it. The game that looks true PS3 is MGS4. But right now the 360 cause its early start.
