Fedor is the #1 heavyweight in the world of MMA. Nobody will argue with you. It must eat at Dana every night knowing that no matter how many people he throws in the ring in the heavyweight division is #2 because his pockets arent deep enough... or simply that his unwillingness to negotiate is destroying the heavyweight division.

I agree the Fedor craze will fade eventually, but any MMA enthusiast or even fan will think in the back of their mind whenever theres a good HW fight on the tube.... "Man that was great, that guy is AWESOME...... But i bet Fedor would DESTROY him. or at the very least, 'i'd like to see THAT guy fight Fedor.'

I hold nothing against Dana and the UFC at all on this. This was not their fault, this was Fedor's manger's fault. This was the plan the entire time.
Let's look at the facts. M-1 in Russia was owned by Fedor's long time manager. "Suddenly", M-1 is bought out by an unnamed American company. Big $$$ for Fedor's manager. Now, Fedor turns around and signs with M-1. Guess what, more $$$ for Fedor's manager. You can't tell me there wasn't kickbacks in this. This reeks of a shaddy business deal to me.
Also, keep in mind, these major buyouts don't happen overnight. When a large company buys out the smallest of companies, the negotiations and paperwork take months. I can't imagine this thing just "happened suddenly".
This was the plan all along, and I blame it all on Fedor's manager. This will always tarnish Fedor's career as we will always wonder if Randy could have beaten him. He's fighting for chump change in some backyard Russian organization instead of the largest MMA stage in the world.
For Shame.

I think Randy has the best chance to beat Fedor, and could probably do it. Who has Fedor even fought lately, he beat Lindland but that match was a joke, Fedor kept grabbing the ropes to stop Lindlands take down attempt and then reversed Lindland and took top position. That was BS, Fedor grabbed the ropes 3 or 4 times with the ref having to pull his hand of the rope each time, that match should have been stood back up for being warned 3 times in a matter of 15 seconds. Mark Hunt and Mark Coleman are past their primes and I think Randy could beat both of them. Cro-cop was back in 05 and we've all seen how he's done lately in the cage, beating NOG was impressive but that was back in 04 and he sucked against Herring. Other than those he's only been fed no-name Japanese fighters recently, just like everyone else in PRIDE. Fedor is undoubtely dominant but without fighting anyone lately he doesn't deserve a number one spot. Randy has fought some of the best at LHW and HW and he fight against Tim Sylvia shows that Randy can handle Fedor's size which at 6ft 230lbs is not that much.(I'm not making any comparision here to skill between Sylvia and Fedor other than size, Sylvia is horrible).

So you mean if Fedor beats absolute nobodies for the next 3 years he'll still be number 1? 2 fights against Min Sook Kim will keep him at the top easily.
Keep blaming Dana and kissing up to Fedor. The heavyweight division sucks anyway.

Fedor can still fight in the UFC. The company wants to own a few top notch fighters and rent them out to other big companies. This way Fedor can fight all of the top notch fighters in the world even if they are in different organizations.

I concur. There might be a possibility to have a non-sanctioned pay-per-view fight between Fedor and Couture still. That kind of money would rival the De La Hoya/Mayweather fight. That would be great but it would have to be done in a year or two before both fighters go downhill. Fedor is a beast.
Peace

Who has Fedor beat in the last 2 years? NO one ! He'd get owned like all the other Pride fighters w/ the exception of Spider and Rampage. His best days are behind him and that's why he's fighing in some bush league MMA show. He want's to be a big fish in a little pond. In the UFC he'd be exposed like Cro Crop and Shogun were and his legend would die. He's trying to make it out w/ everyone thinking he's #1.

You're trippen. It's Fedor's team thats making it hard for him to go to the UFC. Also, you know Pride is now bought by the UFC right??

to be the best you have to beat the best. this applies to fedor too. hes a badman but to stay on top hes gonna have to continue to beat the best, if he signs with an organization and doesnt fight any top notch fighters even though hes on top now, his popularity and status are going to decline eventually.
