Defragment Tool in Windows need some amount of free space on the hard drive to work.

Try "Analyse" option in Defrag tool to check which files are fragmented in "View report".

If they are large media files like movies, move them to temporary external drive and defrag hard drive.

Then you can move the files back to hard drive.

Warning: Don't move system files.

Try OO Defrag Professional. It works perfectly for me and I think is the best defragmentation tool out there. Also do a scan disk ( if you are using Windows XP open command line by typing cmd in run and in the command line type chkdsk /F, and restart your computer).

go to iobit dot com and download Advanced Windows Care and get the defragger program also install the A.W.C. first then install the defragger and run that and reboot it's all free and they dont have any ad or spyware with them and you will notice a big difference
