depends on a lot of things. how much does the dog weigh? what kind of tranq? How much?

Edit:

not sure why you want to know, but you should keep in mind that a police dog is an actual officer and anything done to him would be the same punishment(then tack on animal cruelty and what not) as if it were done to a human officer....

completely unrelated... just thought it was interesting.

please do not use a tranquilizer on the dog if you do not know what you are doing. It could be to much for his body weight and be very harmful and could even cause death. Unless the dog is vicious and needs to be transported please do not play around with the dog and tranquilizers you will be sorry and regret it in the long run if it turns out bad.....and your simple little joke that you and your friends thugh was funny will backfire on you. not to mention you can go to jail for animal cruelty if someone finds out and pay a hefty fine

If you're talking about a human tranquilizer, the effect is a trip to the vet. Pet tranquilizers take about an hour to take effect, and wear off gradually.

And I should add... didn't the VET you got them from tell you how they worked when they PRESCRIBED them to you???

Your best bet would be to contact a vet and inquire about this as it depends on their weight. They would be able to tell you exactly how much and the effects as well as the duration.

Make Him fall asleep? Makes sense to me. Just remember to read the label. "Warning: May cause drowsiness" Hope that helps.

that depends on what the dog warden used.
effects can very and if overdosed can actually kill the dog i would have it cehcked by the vet.

Why are you asking?
I can think of no good reason why you would be asking this except to do something bad...
