I just adopted a kitten from the pound and there was no age given other than= kitten. I want to do a flea treatment on him, but it says ONLY FOR CATS OVER 12 WEEKS OLD- He doesn't still eat from his mom obviously, and some cats 12 weeks do, should i just assume he's old enough for this flea treatment?

No, DON'T assume. Don't use the treatment AT ALL - you got this from a pet store, didn't you? Only a store bought treatment would have this kind of warning on it. Store-bought treatments don't work, and are often very unsafe, hence the warning. They shouldn't even be used on adult cats.

Take the cat to a vet. It's new, so it needs a checkup, and you need to get it proper flea treatment. A vet can also tell you how old it is, confirm its sex and advise on proper flea and worm regimes and advise when to neuter, as well as answer any questions you may have about cat care.

take the kitten to the vets, they will have a generalised idea of the age of the act. also using a different fleas spray such as frontline flea spray which can only be dispensed by a vet is okay to use on kittens which are 2 days old and is very safe. so my advice would be take it to your vets and they will dispense myou with the best treatment, i would preferably ask for the frontline spray if unsure of the kittens age.

as long as he is not a strange breed of cat, is not obviously thin or overweight, a good rule of thumb is one pound for each month old he is. so a three month old cat (12 wks) is about three pounds.
