Dates DO matter to some people and other people couldn't care less!
Honesty is the best policy and if you want to know, then ask your girlfriend! After all a relationship should be based on trust, so why try to weasle or lie your way out of it?
Just tell her that you've really enjoyed going out with her and have been remeniscing, but simply can't remember when you actually first went out together!
If you really can't face doing that, then I suppose that you could try to remember how many times you've been out with her, where you went and if you went with other friends! Maybe someone else that you know had a significant event (maybe a birthday/anniversary/started a new job) around that time?
BUT REALLY I'D ENCOURAGE YOU TO BE HONEST WITH YOUR GIRL AND THEN WRITE DOWN HER ANSWER AND MAYBE BUY HER A BUNCH OF FLOWERS, OR A BOX OF CHOCOLATES TO SAY SORRY!

neither me or my bloke can remember the date we got together, when we look back we can't remember if we went to the cinema before we went to the beach or the other way round! only 5 years ago too!! we picked a random date - may 1st!
Try talking about the actual event and just be honest and say you cant remember the date - can she cos you would like to know so you can mark the occasion, then write it down and buy some flowers or do something on that day - nothing major incase you do happen to forget in future lol!

lol ... once, someone asked my boyfriend how long we had been dating, and he replied "I don't know, a couple of months" and turned to me for confirmation. I laughed and told him "Six months." He was truly surprised. I don't think women should get all bent out of shape about it; as long as he remembers your wedding anniversary, you should be okay.
But if you're worried, keep a present on hand; those kinds of girls will hint when you're getting close, so be sure to give her something pretty!

lol it depends i won't care if my bf forgets as long as its not all the time just ask her & write the date down, i forgot the date too but thankfully I had a message saved and it had the date.

Oh that SUCKS. I wouldn't "ask" her, I would reminisce about the day and try to trick her into saying the date somehow. You're in so much trouble... LOL you really are...
