Yes, i have a tattoo. I have four of them and will be getting my next one in a week. I have one of Van Gogh's The Starry Night inside a series of stars, two dragons from David Bolt artwork, a jolly roger, and a piece on my thigh of an hourglass.

Yes, tattoos hurt, anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. If you're thinking about getting your first tattoo, there's some things you might want to consider.

I waited until I was 24 to get my first tattoo because I wanted it to be perfect. I went to about 10 different shops before I found the artist I wanted to do my work. I looked for a clean shop. One of the biggest favors you can do yourself, aside from picking a good artist, is picking a good, clean shop with knowledgable helpful people who answer any and all questions you have. Make sure everything is clean. The needle should come out of a package, and should be removed in front of you. Ask the shop if they have an autoclave (where they sterilize things) and ask them if they do spore testing. Make sure they are wearing gloves and changing them frequently.

As for pain. Well, there are definitely some places that hurt a little more than others. The ribs and feet are especially painful. And, a good artist, if the pain becomes a little much, will be more than willing to work with you, and take occassional breaks. Placement of your tattoo is really something you have to decide. Think about if you want it to be visable in shorts, tank tops, etc. Think if it's going to be somewhere you get a lot of sun, as sun fades tattoos.

A few other things worth mentioning. Don't be afraid to take your time deciding. It's going to be there forever. Wear comfortable clothes the day you go, that helps a lot. Bring a soda or a candy bar to keep your sugar levels up, because your body is going to use a lot of adrenaline. Remember to breathe! I know it sounds silly, but a lot of people tend to hold their breath, and that can lead to light-headedness.

Just have fun and be smart. If you take the picture you posted to a good artist, tell them your hestitation about pain and questions of where to put it, they will definitely talk you through it and help you come up with possibilities.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

I have 2, both on my back. My first is a green eyed lizzard just at the point where the buttocks meet the back. Kind of cool it looks as if it is crawling out ofmy pants.

The second is a Kanji of "Joy" that is higher up and close to the spine. That one hurt a bit more but not that bad.

The pain issue is all about how much pain you can take and where you decide to put the tattoo. The areas that tend to cause more discomfort are areas that are not overly exposed like under the arm, base of the skull and areas that where the skin is closer to the bone like the top of the foot. Areas that are fleshy and get repeated exposer to things, like the buttocks and sholder tend to hurt less.

I find that it doesn't really hurt, it just makes the skin raw.

Good luck.

I have a tattoo of my name written in fancy cursive and it's in my right leg on top of my ankle. I just got it done about a year or 2 ago.

There were some spots that hurt more than others but it wasn't excruciating pain. I almost fainted but it's because I was in an uncomfortable position (sitting down with my right leg extended to the right, bent at the knee).

If you're going to put the heart with the bullseye it would make sense to put it exactly where it is in the picture. It wouldn't make sense if you had it anywhere else.

Take into consideration what you do for a living or what you might do later on for a living. If you're going to be in a professional and respectable possition make sure you're tattoos won't show.

Also, just make sure that this is really what you want. Remember, a tattoo is PERMANENTLY FOREVER. You're skin might get really droopy when you're older and it might not look good.

i have five tattoos and im not even close to being done. my biggest is on my right arm and it goes from my shoulder almost to my elbow. then i have one on my left arm and one on my left shoulder. and i have one on each forearm. now like you i cannot stand needles. they dont hurt me but they give me a feeling similar to being grossed out. the tattoo gun doesnt hurt. its more of an annoying feeling. and it leaves you sore like a burn or bruise but nothing you cant handle. look if that tattoo is really something that you can look at in the mirror in ten or twenty years then i guarantee you that the little bit of pain and time that it takes to get it is worth it. good luck.

I have a purple wildflower I drew myself on my ankle. Yes it hurt but it wasn't unbearable . I'd liken it to the pain of falling and scraping your knees (burning ouch) .
The sternum might be a good place but here's something you need to know - tatooing hurts most imo when it is done where there isn't a alot of tissue over the bone . The outline hurts most . Be sure to breath deep and even when having it done and when the pain comes breath out and count to 4 this makes you relax .
Good luck

Tattoos hurt, but if you like pain it hurts in a good way. Also, the pain is worth it.

I have nine stars tattooed on my hip.

I have my family's initials on my middle upper back.

I have two koi fish tattooed on my feet (one on each foot going in opposite directions...I'm a Pisces.)

I think tattoos that are based on something that your interested in NOW are a bad idea. I'm assuming that you like the group kill hannah. Maybe if your doing it just because you like the design...otherwise I wouldn't do it. You don't know if you will like that group 10 years from now and it might just be something that embarrasses you.

Fleur de lys above my left ankle. It tickled and hurt at the same time. It was more annoying than painful.
