Im a transcendentalist so big part of my life is enjoying nature. Naturally, walks in the park alone is something i just do. Usually on a sunday morning you can see me in this lovely park with a majestic lake with my dog, ipod and cup of coffee. However sometimes i'll see people staring at me in a really weird way. As if im some some pedophile (although im only 17). Whats wrong with young girls taking a walk in the park alone?

Rape, murder, assault, just to name a few,,,during the day, nothing, just keep your eyes open...it's a dangerous world..

There is really nothing wrong with walking in the park alone. Are you singing along with your iPod? If so, that may be why you get silly looks.
However, from a safety standpoint- it is NOT safe for a young woman (or any woman) to be on her own. You may want to take your dog, or go with another friend. There is safety in numbers.
Crime can happen any time. Since you said you have an iPod, that's another item a thief may want.
Just be VERY careful- be aware of your surroundings.

Here in Colorado, people are out some much walking, running, etc. with their dogs, I would never give it a second thought. When the weather is nice I run every morning in a park next to my house.
Who cares what anyone thinks anyway. More people need to be out walking these days in my opinion.

it leaves you open to danger! buddy system more so in this day and age!
never know if some dude and his friend want you for sex and rape you!
I mean it can happen!
as for walking in the park there is nothing wrong with it and i'
m sure most are thinking were is your friend buddy system or they are taking a good look so fi they see you missing they know where they seen you last!
weird yeah but i grew up in detroit! you don't walk alone! period!

Don't worry about what other people think. If you enjoy a quiet walk alone, then don't let them interfere. Just let yourself be alone with your thoughts.
I think if more people did what you are trying to do, the world would be a much more civil place. Congratulations on bettering yourself!

nothing, i have seen many people walking in the park alone.....maybe they are just people watching so they look at you, but carry on with their business.......don't let it bother you.......
