Mexican soldiers and civilian smugglers had an armed standoff with nearly 30 U.S. law enforcement officials on the Rio Grande in Texas, acording to the Texas police and the FBI. Mexican Army troops had several mounted machine guns on the ground more than 200 yards INSIDE THE U.S. BORDER (emphasis mine) about 50 miles east of El Paso. An FBI spokeswoman confirmed the incident. "People with Humvees, who appeared to be with the Mexican Army, were involved..."

The paper said Mexican military Humvees were towing what appeared to be thousands of pounds of marijuana across the border into the U.S., according to Chief Deputy Mike Doyal of the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department.

Such incidents..common, Doyal told the Daily Bulletin. November, deputies were called to back up agents ...in Texas after confronting more than six fully armed men dressed in Mexican military uniforms.

Several lines of thought, actually. First, I wonder why we are trying to appease them? What do they do for us that we need good relations? I am not trying to be sarcastic here, I just don't know why they would be important. They certainly can't beat us in arm wrestling, let alone all out war, I'd think.

Second, I had seen this past month an article (most likely in CNN but I really cannot tell you truthfully now where) about Bin Ladin's family being in opiates. I thought then and do now about how much easier it is to quiet drugged up Americans. It is in their best interest that we do drugs, both money and to stupid us down. Those who use drugs are paying them to make 'us' less active in politics, both here and abroad, less able to make informed decisions, and less likely to succeed. I wondered then and do again today how many irrational people in other countries Americans are supporting by buying drugs.

Third, isn't this considered an act of war toward us? If I came in armed to your yard you'd probably shoot me or call the cops, I would hope they'd come and get me. I just do not understand why we do nothing. The only way this could have been kept quiet for so long is if our law enforcement is getting a cut from the pushers or maybe it's because they thought they could handle it before?

At this point in time, nothing should surprise anyone concerning Mexico and the U.S. open border. The drug trade is alive and well, along with illegal entry into the U.S. and back out again. Illegal immigrants clearly number over 20 million, possible 30 million at this time, no way to know, but there is one sure thing, they will continue to come from all over the world through this border area and sooner or later so will a weapon of mass destruction to be planted in a U.S. major city such as Washington, DC! A nuclear weapon planted squarely in the middle of downtown Washington, DC should just about destroy the place and it's people completely! The U.S. and Mexican border is like swiss cheese and all the cheap talked about doing something to change this is baloney. The U.S. government and the Mexican government have cut a deal to continue to look the other way. Both Republican's and Democrat's are equally responsible for not protecting the border and this nations citizens! There is no difference between George W. Bush and Hillary Rodham Clinton concerning this issue! They both want free-flow, open borders, more NAFTA....the North American Foreign Trade Agreement...it consist's of allowing anything and everything from all over the world into the USA, including illegal, people, products and drugs! There is no candidate running for president who seriously believe's they can or wants to stem this flow, let alone completely stop it! Legally residing American citizens need to accept reality, this nation has been sold down the river by it's government. Do not blame the Mexican people or the illegal's who come here, the American government, along with the Mexican government has allowed it to happen, not by chance, but by choice! Deal's cut behind closed doors have come back to haunt the American citizens, who have become nothing more than lambs being led to slaughter...listening to the media, instead of sorting through the facts of reality and making a decision based on common sense! Dysfuctional reasoning and brain-washing media bombards the TV and American's are now swimming in their own ignorance as this nation goes down the tubes in the duration! The U.S. Founding Fathers warned of this, but it has happened all the same. When America became over-run with those who broke the law to obtain entrance, it has water-down the quality of life in America and along with it any loyalty to further the cause of this once great nation! America is in it's final years and it's demise is guaranteed by those same individual's who took or will take the oath of office to uphold the U.S. Constitution and it's principles! There are no candidates who are of, by and for the people of the United States of America as originally intended during the birth of this nation.

Happens all the time from what those on the border say. Apparently there are a lot of dead bodies and issues with drug smugglers forcing mexicans to carry drugs across the border for fear of death. There is nothing good about Mexico; the government doesnt even control most of the country for crying out loud. Build the fence- tall- wide and deep underground so they cannot tunnel.

I'm afraid that even if Governor called in the National Guard, our President would have had the troops immediately recalled..He is too busy appeasing the Mexican "Government" and pushing his plans to erase our southern border.

Here's a novel solution, why don't we just annex the entire country of Mexico? Americans could own property there and the corruption of our government pales in comparison to theirs...and no more illegals !!!

If true that is an invansion and they should be treated as such.

If a Mexican in military uniform crosses into the US should have been given 2 warning shots to the head.
