My baby, a persian I rescued and nursed back to health, is now 7 months and has never been without me. She started getting liquid stool yesterday- when I started running around bringing stuff together for packing. I feel like she knows I'm going. I have a great pet sitter, but I feel so Bad!!!
I have rescue-remedy drops for thier water, but I think it's ME who needs them ;-)

Animals do sense a change - such as your leaving. I understand animals have little sense of passing time. So she may miss you and look for you the entire time you are gone. But the 7 days will pass like 7 seconds to the cat. Don't worry.

Your cat may indeed know your getting ready to go away, but more than likely she has ate something that didn't agree with her. If it lasts for more than a day, you might want to give her some of the drops, but cats stomachs are picky. If the stool is really runny you can help her out. You can give a cat Pepto-Bismal that yucky pink stuff (icky), take an eye dropper and give her about a teaspoon. If it last more than a couple days or there is any sign of worms, or blood in the stool it's time to see her vet. and don't wait. If you half to leave before you do call you vet and set it up that your sitter can take her in if necessary and you'll pay for it when you get home. This is good to do anytime you have to be away and make sure they have a phone number so they can reach you if they need to.
Hope you have a good trip and that you baby is fine.

i love my cats and i go away sometimes and have a pet-sitter and it's sad leaving them but you'll see them when you get back. They get quite sad if they sense that your leaving but they will get it in a day or two, plus they'll give you a nice greating when you get back and everything will be OK again. Try not to stay away for TOO long. And it's not as bad leaving them for a second time because the'll have been through it before and know what it's like. Hope this helps a bit.

If this is one cat then attempt having 2 trays. in case your gran won't bodily replace the trays, ask her to merely sprinkle a layer of clutter over the tray while it seems grimy. this is not suitable yet a minimum of the actual will stay sparkling and with a bit of luck quit kitty from soiling someplace else. yet another determination could be to have a sparkling tray already crammed that your gran can merely place subsequent to the grimy one, after an afternoon or 2.

i think cats know something is up. If you haven't left her before, she probably doesn't know what youre going to do. If you rescued her she may have some abandon issues. I know my little kitten does. She will fall asleep somewhere and freaks out when she wakes up and I'm not there anymore! She comes running up to me and hugs me tightly around my neck while suckling my hair. She's so cute! =)

Pets are very intuitive and get what's going on around them. Leave one of your garments where she sleeps and/or eats while you are gone...tell your pet sitter so she doesn't feel the need to tidy up and move the garment. Your scent will help your kitty while you are gone!

I truly believe they know. When I bring out my suite case both my dog and cat seem to get depressed. They follow me around and the cat will get into my suite case and lay down. They will be OK though, have fun on your trip and try not to worry but if you are like me, you will call every day to check on them...lol

i think they will notice you are gone but my cats liked private things. if you get someone else to look over them and stay a while and play with them they will be happy when you get home and happy to see you
