the total goals was scored in a match was 36 which took place on 12 September 1885 during the Scottish Cup clash between Arbroath & Bon Accord. Arbroath won 36-0 & it is still remain a world record today!

According to the Guinness book of Records it is Bon Accord Arbroath in the late 19th Century, with Arbroath cuffing Bon Accord 36 - 0.
Mind you I do remember a game from primary school when we scored over 100 goals between the teams. Mind you it was about 40 a side.

36, Arbroth beat Bon Accord 36-0 a world record from way back before goal posts had a net so the score could have been bigger, also Bon Accord changed its name to Aberdeen football club

One man scored 10 goals in a league match (against Bristol Rovers in 1936). His name was Joe Payne and he played for LutonTown. Beat that! and his record is still standing 70 odd years later.

after smokies this is arbroath's claim to fame. after this game bon accord gave up football and went to selling fizzy juice to the citizens of north east scotland (and further afield as well i think!)
