For some reason or another whenever I meet an attractive girl who shows any amount of 'interest' in me whatsoever, I start to 'fall for her.' What I mean by that is - I gradually start to develop an innocent crush on her..

I have no idea why, and I try to prevent it from happening by putting other thoughts in my head, but somehow they always find their way back. It seems childish and immature to have such tendencies, but there is nothing I can do about them.

..And I realize it is nothing more than an innocent crush, but each time this has happened, it has ended on a bad note. Obviously, I don't want that. I want to have attractive friends who I can see as just friends - nothing more.

I have the same issue with boys all the time. What I do is try to focus on something different and if there is a guy I would like to get to know then I become friends and get to know them a little.

Well, if you are "falling for them" that can put pressure on the person if it's supposed to be platonic.

Also, it sounds shallow that you only want attractive friends.

Don't be so hard on yourself!

You are not the only one that goes thru something like this.

The way probably you are feeling is being co-dependent.
