I am tired of the attitude. I believe in God and I believe in Jesus as my savior. I also believe that Jesus taught love and kindness. I do not believe in being judgmental, condescending, or irrational either. I try and live my life according to what the bible teaches.
Book burning, witch hunts, and crusades are not the way to show God's love.

I think if they were really honest with themselves and did an honest study of a decent translation they would probably drop a lot of the weird doctrines they cling to. As it is, they tend to limit themselves to an error that was made a long time ago.
Anything that comes along to challenge their fragile reality is met with hostility because they would then be forced to change their worldview. That is too much to bear for some. I think that makes them cranky or something.
Yes I am tired of it, actually.

It's a simple matter of 'exclusion from the group'.
This is a powerful tool in groups (we are very social creatures and we hate exclusion) and is used to wield power - ie, if you don't do what the rules say (our version of the Bible) then you can't be a member of our group (the church where all your friends and family and neighbors attend).
Pretty basic stuff.
The Fundies want to exclude the moderates, the Catholics want to exclude the Protestants, etc., etc.
Don't get so caught up in the details of the matter - step back and see the 'forest for the trees' so to speak.
Organized religion is to be watch closely, and with vigilance...

I do not believe in God, but I tend to think that those who attempt to follow the Bible strictly have a more credible argument than those who do not. In other words, I have nothing against homosexuals, but I think it is ridiculous for a gay person to call themselves a Christian. The Bible clearly considers sodomy a sin. I also feel that women are equal to men, but if you are a woman and you are going to call yourself a Christian, you should not have a job and by no means should you be in any position where any man is subordinate to you. The Bible makes it very clear that women are not equal to men and that their sole purpose of existing is to bare children. Luckily, some of us are able to realize that the Bible is b.s., so we do not have to look at women and gays as inferior.

Of course I am tired of it. It doesn't really offend me though. People who work so hard to define what exactly a "true" Christian is usually just mode that definition to fit themselves.
I take great pride in being a Christian who can think for herself and make her own decisions. Just because I have reasoning and critical thinking abilities to rise above legalism doesn't mean I'm not a Christian.

This statement is, in my view, as ridiculous as the message fundamentalist try to force upon everyone that will listen. If they knew as much about God as they claim they do then they would be God because they know everything ... and we know that's not true.
I know they mean well and I don't think you can doubt their love for the Lord but their message is in error and they will never consider this because, in their eyes, their message is perfect.
I think many times they bring more harm to the Gospel message than they do good. That is unfortunate.

Absolutely. The fundamentalists do NOT speak for me, or for the majority of Christianity. All I see from them is hatred, intolerance, an exclusionary attitude, etc.
In sum, completely opposite Christ-like behavior.

As longs as people don't block the street that I drive to work, with their protest marches and as long as they don't come into my lounge room telling me all that I believe is wrong, I don't care.
I have no problem refuting fundies;it's the atheists and muslims who will distort the facts.

There are al sorts of rules that religious people come up with to force others to comply with their beliefs. Its been said that you cant be Christian if you are gay, divorced, in jail, fat, on drugs, non white, etc, Non of these things are true, yet insecure and ignorant people cling to them like life rafts in the middle of the ocean.

I am starting to think it is silly how many different religions disagree with each other. Them against us. Me against you. The "walls" and divisions, in my opinion, is what breeds hate.
