I don't think that they should swear around their children because then the child(or children) will repeat it. I saw this happen when I took a teen parenting class in high school. I was trying to catch Stanton because it was time to eat and he said f*&^. I couldn't belive he did; and the worst part of it all was that he thought it was cool to say that word. I would NEVER leave my children(if I had any) with people like that.

I think it depends on how old the children are and how bad the adults are cussing. Do they cuss at the kids? Bc thats not right. Do they just say a few bad words vs f-bombs? Kids at a certain age will hear bad words and they need to understand what those words mean and why its not right for them to say it - so it all depends on your comfort level. I try my best to not cuss around my kids and my bf cusses a little more than I do (slip of the tounge) so stuff does happen - just dont let your kids start using the words.

It definitely depends on the manner in which they swear. I don't believe that a person that swears around children equals an irresponsible person. If a person used mild swearing occasionally around my child I don't think it's a big deal. If a person were dropping F bombs, or swearing at my child, then yes I wouldn't leave my child around that person. I grew up with adults swearing around me my whole life, I don't think it impacted me negatively.

I do sometimes swear but keep it to a minimum, I do not like it but when things hurt I tend to use those words similar to Hang Dash and Blow aware that these little curse words also send you down below. However when I was chopped up by a clown in a BMW on the motorway who missed me by a coat of paint I did let my feelings rip

If every other words was a cuss word, no. People can swear and be decent people. I swear and I'd be really good to any child I would just really watch my mouth.
I try very hard not to swear around my kids. My youngest is 15 and I've noticed little by little she's starting to swear around me. How can I tell her not to swear that is hypocritical.

I'd be comfortable if this is their worse fault. The children will be exposed to swearing at school and many other places.
It's better just to talk to them about swearing and why it isn't a polite or smart thing to do.

yea because swearing around children makes complete sense. why not use drugs around them or pass out from getting drunk? let them eat WHATEVER they want day or night? buy weapons for them when they're teens? -- oh that's right, some parents already do those things....some people should not be procreating for lack of common sense. if common sense was a requirement for raising children, there would be alot less "parents" in the world.

My parents swore around me, but I use limitation to when I swear, and honestly did not pick up on it until grade school when it became a basic knowledge to all students.

I think they are teaching some bad habits !
It really depends on the age of your child. Mine is 8 and I feel like I could leave him with someone who cursed, only because I have taught him that cursing is not acceptable, but some adults do it.
(Like his father)
;-)
Go with your gut feelings, but consider your child's age.

I'm not going to automatically judge them, but I would not leave my kids with them.
I have no interest in hearing words that can only be bleeped on national television coming out of the sweet little mouths of my kids.
