tell me how it's going for you. I only came across the TV ad about SPIRIVA couple of days ago, and main thing I noticed was the absence of "side effects" announced. It amazed me since most medications nowadays take a whole commercial's time to tell users about the many side effects.

Someone in my family has been using CONBIVENT, FLOVENT, and regular AEROSOL PUMP for few years now for emphysema. She also suffers from CHF and high blood pressure.

I have not talked to her doctor yet about whether Spiriva would be good for her, so I need as much information as I can before asking him. Thank you.

my mom has COPD and is on spiriva therapy. she seems to be doing fine, except for occassional bouts of pneumonia, which happens a lot anyway in patients with COPD. my mom also has high blood pressure and CHF. i also have a co-worker who is in the early stages of COPD who is taking spiriva as a preventative sort of thing. check with your pharmacy and ask for a fact sheet on spiriva. COPD is a rough road, but every little bit helps. good luck to your family member!

Combivent is a combination of albuterol and ipratropium. Spiriva (tiotropium) is similar to the latter component of Combivent, but longer-lasting. It's newer and not especially cheap, but a nice alternative as long as you understand what it is, and what it isn't.
