LMAO, there are some really ignorant people who have answered. Please for those people who think that we are not animals, then what do you think that we are? We are mammals, first and foremost. The main thing that separates the human mammal from the other mammals, reptiles, etc on the planet is that we do not live with our environment, we destroy it. So possibly it would be insulting for the other animals to even state that we are that high on the food chain. We are bound and determined to destroy the earth (our host) at every turn, which is exactly like what cancer does to its host. So, all those that answered and said we were not animals are correct, you are like a cancer on the face of the earth.
The reason behind us having rules for sex, is that humans like rules. It is the best way to control the simple human mind by those in power, to put rules in and even better if you can say that they came down from God. The rules for sex and having one partner and staying with them for the rest of your life probably came from some dorky priest in the past who had a hot wife that everyone wanted to have. The best way to stop unwanted advances is to make a rule that it is one man and women together in a relationship only, as deemed by God. This is awesome because who could ask God, nobody. This also stops your daughters getting pregnant, etc. However, we also know that the human mammal is not intended to be in a monogamous relationship for life, due to the size of the sexual organs, etc. Humans have slept around for millenia and that is a fact. It will continue into the future, amazingly we live by stupid rules that were made by Bozo the Village Idiot thousands of years ago and people still follow them, like some God told him. But then people these days have as hard a time using their minds as back then, it is too bad they are allowed to reproduce, since that is terrible for humans passing on the stupid gene. Or maybe theists do not believe we have genes either.

A lot of human beings don't have rules about pre-marital sex, but since animals don't get married, I suppose that might be a great reason not to wait.

Uh, what do you mean by "other" animals? Humans are not animals. They are humans, created in the image of God. Animals are not created in God's image. They are two different things. So, now that you know that, then, that should explain why animals don't have the same rules humans do. Animals, by the way, don't "have sex." They mate. It is and instinct to reproduce, given to them by God. They don't "feel" the same was humans do about it. And, animals cannot be gay!

Animals CLEARLY have rules for sex. Haven't you heard about dominant males? About males fighting over who gets to have sex with who? About how some species form life long pairings?
Some animal scientists spend their entire lives studying the rules for just one type of animal!

How do you define "rules"?
ADD: Field biologists that study animal behavior have been changing the terms for many species relationships. Many "mate for life" birds of prey appear to have more complicated lives than previously thought. Some do get "divorced" some have mange a trios relationships with another male.
Living is a very complex situation.

when your sentient, you sorta take exception to the biggest guy on the block trying to rape your girl, when your sentient you sorta discover that mating with your relatives yields some strange offspring. There are "rules" for sex as well as other things in life, because society functions more smoothly and at a higher level that way. The societys that have rules on sex and other social items like murder etc survived, those that didn't have them did not fare as well and died out. See--society just like species evolves also. Cause and effect, natural selection of the best plans.

Animals follow rules of nature. They don't need to be controlled. They go their femals only in particular seasons when they need males to impregnant them. Male don't bather females rest of the year.
It is humans who who need to be controlled. If no one control them, you will see a great number of them walking around on all your beaches comptely nude. May be walking nude every where in public. They will behave worst than animals.
