It's a person that never leaves the FOB. Like little Hobbits they hide in their holes safely on the FOB knowing of nothing that happens outside the FOB.

Grunts even made a song about Fobbits.

Anyone else got some funny stories with run ins with Fobbits, REMF, Pogues, etc or any good stories about some stupid FOB rules.

I was shot down in a black hawk in Baghdad. I was the only one who wasn't pinned. I defended my crew for 15 minutes until we were rescued. I fired all 210 out of my 16, and had 8 bullets left in my 9. I was put in for the Bronze star, but didn't get it because my commander didn't want any one soldier to stand out above the rest. But he had no problem taking his bronze star, even though he never left the base, and slept in a bunker.

I was an REMF, mobilized to Kuwait. I never pretend to be a "war hero", but I have known a few fobbits who were stationed in Balad that act like they are. I feel that is an insult to the men and women who go out into the s*** everyday.

Sorry about what happened Jon C, you got hosed by your CO. He should want to see that his troops get awarded. I knew a Naval Reserve lieutenant stationed at Arifjan, Kuwait who wanted a bronze star so he would have a higher award than any of the enlisted in his company. Pretty sad. But you have my respect, Jon C.
